ARe you in fact Ronald McDonald?

no :)
I just saw on their website
Ronald McDonald and Design, Ronald McDonald House, Ronald McDonald House Charities, Ronald McDonald House

"Ronald McDonald and Design" is a TM, and ronald mcdonald without anything else is not?

"and" means both. Then again, you could check out the 32 live regiostrations with USPTO... or better yet, maybe use a lil common sense :)

Common sense.

(Yes I was tempted to do something incredibly "smartass" here.)

And why would you want to use R.md as Ronald McDonald anyway? That's just silly. A horrible use for an otherwise good domain name.

Why do we think so????? Ok, you didn't take the hints...

Ronald McDonald is a registered TM, it is also a highly recognizable character associated with McDonalds and any use without the expressed written consent of McDonald's Corp will be a violation of TM rights.

If you register or use a domain becuase you heard of a company, character, product, service mark or anything else advertised in commerce that someone put a lot of hard work into, it is concidered "bad faith". All it will do is cuase you time, money and headaches. Here is what you do...

use the search box and type in "trademark" and read for a week. Then type in "tm" and read the threads you may have missed teh first time. This is the best advise you will ever receive. There is a wealth of knowledge here and you will only hurt yourself but not using it.

thanks for the smart answer

also, could someone actually sell this domain to McDonalds as a possible use for a Ronald... website?
This was supposed to be the first question, though I forgot about it

Offering that would be the absolute BEST way to get a lawsuit or UDRP filed against you.

However, It's an awful use for the domain. R.md for Ronald McDonald? .md is associated with doctors. Why would McDonalds want to associate their character with doctors? Because there food is bad? Also, they already have .com domains anyway. I dont' think they'd have an interest in an off the wall ccTLD like that.

A better medical use would be something like Registered nurse, Radiology doctor, or something similar.

Another use be R.MD (Republican from Maryland...State code MD), especially if you can get D.MD to even things out.
