Hello everyone,

It's very unfortunate to happen with anyone and yesterday it happened to me. The user @TjKiller using [email protected] as PayPal email ID scammed me of $1,000. I'll share the details below:

Attached are the screenshots of all the messages and payment snapshots exchanged between myself, the seller and the moderator(s) @Alfa Mod Team @Echo Mod Team of NamePros. But I'll try to keep it short and simple to understand what exactly has happened so far. Also attached are snapshots of the dispute opened with PayPal and the messages exchanged there as well.

So how it all started was that this guy named Tiago Silva @TjKiller ([email protected]) out of nowhere asked for a loan of €1,000 through a private message. I told him that it would be good if we may have some domain deal which will help him. He sent a few domains which I didn't like except the one IGAM.com for which he asked €2,000. I offered him $1,000 to which he finally agreed. Usually I inform the sellers that I'll be paying via PayPal and expect them to transfer the domain first. Since I agreed to pay via PayPal but he told me to transfer the money first. I was all the time hesitant to transfer money at first because of the abusive language used by him every now and then. I asked the moderator if I shouldn't proceed further but I was made aware that I'll be getting some warning or negative feedback/points from NamePros moderators which I never wanted to risk having. I even asked to use an escrow service which he categorically denied. I know there were several signs of potential fraud to happen but just because I didn't want to risk my reputation, I went ahead and made the payment via PayPal.

I provided my GoDaddy account details and he denied transferring the domain saying there is some error coming. I told him to try again and/or call GoDaddy support to help you in transferring the domain. Instead of that, he said that I've refunded the money back. As of writing this message, it's going to be 12 hours since I'm waiting for the domain or money to be received.

He attached the snapshot showing money refunded which I now believe is fake because I paid via my PayPal balance and the refund back to PayPal balance usually takes place in minutes at maximum per my experience.

In the entire communication I've shared (unedited except account details, PayPal transaction ID, etc.), one can notice how abusive, disgraceful and racist language is used against me.

Some of the excerpts from his messages:

"You are worst than a woman"

"But dealing with Abdul is unbearable
He accuses me of not respecting the agreement when he is the one who does not respect it"

"And he's suspicious like everything, what a despicable human being"

"If you want to screw me, it's up to you and your conscience"

"You are already making me sick
Behave like a man"

"My name is clean, the dung that is accusing me me should be ashamed"

"I send you the money *Please paypal review this* You Abdul, are a mean and disgusting hunan being"

"How can you say I didn't send your money? You scumbag, piece of shit"

"You have my domain and my money Congratz for you I hope you sleep well at night"

"I will find you. Even if I have to chase you to India. And then, I will rip your head off."

"Just to leave a note: *Pakistani peace of shit"

It's quite obvious now that this person did fraud with me and ran away with my $1,000. I've opened a dispute with PayPal and will see how they can assist in this regard.

It would be nice of someone to share their experience and the best way to get my money back whether here or through PM/DM.

Thank you!
AbdulBasit Makrani

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
A few years ago, when I bought a domain name, I also encountered a liar on namepros,
I also paid with PayPal,
Then he also gave me the transfer code,
But a few days after I started transferring domain names, he canceled the transfer,
At that time, I just arrived at namepros,
So I didn't understand it at that time, so I asked management for help,
Fortunately, after the end, PayPal paid me the money,
They said that when they met professional swindlers,
The money was transferred by the swindler after a few seconds,
All the information on PayPal is false,

Thanks for sharing your experience.

Good thing to hear from you and some other fellow domainers is that PayPal will take the buyers side so I'm a bit relaxed. However, the only thing which concerns me is that when I made the payment, the funds were not received by him and were put on hold until I mark the goods received by me. Which I did because without which he wasn't going to transfer the domain. Once I marked of receiving the goods, money was received by the seller.
I hope this thing doesn't go against me by PayPal.

I've opened the dispute with the same reason that I haven't received the goods so fingers crossed. So far the status is to handle it mutually and I can only get PayPal to involve after 7 or so days.

Hi Abdul

i got same the same pm, but did not respond.

moderators should review his account to see how many other members he sent the pm to.

he has posted in ppc section not long ago, claiming to make $200 > $300 a month
also, has posted that his account was banned at Bodis.
(they may have his identity)

such posting always raises the red flag to me.

moderators should have not forced you to make payment first, since it was not a traditional sale.

i am sorry for what happened to you and hope you get your cash back.

lmk if i can help.

imo...

Thanks for commenting and sharing about that scammer.
Also thanks for your offer of help. I'll see how things proceed further and keep you guys updated.

Next time, kindly refer anyone asking for a loan to Epik. They have a system for that.

Also, it doesn't cost anything to be courteous and decent in your choice of words. Especially, in business dealings.

So if someone can't manage that, then there's no way I'll do business with them.

Thanks for sharing that. I didn't know about Epik have that system in place. Surely will refer that.
I totally agree on what you said about the language. I don't deal at all. But I give the commitment first priority and that's what I gave in and things got ugly on later.

I've learned the hard lesson and will be careful next time.

We normally remove posts such as the one above. However, given the nature of this thread, I'd rather leave it be. I'll leave it as an exercise to the reader to determine what that sort of rhetoric indicates.

For intangible items PayPal nor Godaddy will get involved. It's unfortunate they protect scammers over their customers but nothing has changed in 20 years.

Update:

First of all, I wanted to thank everyone who contacted me privately and posted comments in this thread and giving me support and sharing valuable information and direction.

Finally I got the full refund back from PayPal as the case was closed in my favor.

Thank you everyone once again  🤗

That's surprising. He must've ignored the dispute.

Well congrats anyway, what a mess.

That scammer didn't respond to PayPal which made it easier for PayPal to decide in my favor. He had no legs to stand as he simply looted my money and had no proof to show the domain was transferred or the money was refunded by him.

That's surprising. He must've ignored the dispute.
If you are in a professional dispute that is being mediated by a third party, publicly threatening to kill the other person is generally inadvisable, as is ignoring the mediator.

To PayPal, only thing that matters is a delivery confirmation. :xf.laugh:
