Time to buy Chinese domains

As we all know chineese new year that is spring festival is coming up ...the market will stand still for a while ..I heared its the time to invest now and prices will go up after spring festival.

Well we can only hope the wheels move forward again especially in markets like the 4l market etc.

4l.com, 4l.net chips etc. have done nothing now for 3 months and have not retested new highs and are way below those levels right now.

An upward surge at some stage in Feb would be a positive for sure.

I have spoken to Chinese investors saying the same thing for months now and guess what, in that time the market has gone nowhere for shorts in the main extensions. In fact they have gone down especially for .com and net, so take what you hear with a big pinch of salt.

Those who have been patiently holding the last 3 months and counting have tied up money for nothing (yes i'm included in that, and i'm not even talking about those who invested at $3k each for 4l.com chips who must be very worried right now)

If they do move up again soon then it's about time IMO.

I second that. 4l.net prices went down to below $200 one month before but now, they have almost touched $250. Dec. & Jan. time period are always sluggish for stocks and domains too. We will see rise in Feb.

yes indeed we are getting issue selling our 5l chips but not because we want to unload, because they are selling very cheap right now which we all think because of under valuation.

What rainapple123 tried to bring is the point that as its undervalued its the best time to buy and do not underestimate the investment of near 25 millon $ in reg fee and over a 100 million$ AVG market value of 5l chips .

This market has chance to gain a billion $ market if all goes well. If doesn't still its not getting down any sooner. Of course no body knows the future so with 4l.com or any other investment. why accuse 5l only

I think with your posts and many people have brought this up, while you're saying what I bolded above "its the best time to buy" you're doing the opposite and selling and with your 5Ls, you're selling for less than regular reg fee. Why not just hold them all if you believe they will go up in value in the future? It's the old, actions speak louder than words type of deal.

prices go up after january pretty often, same thing happened last year, not sure if its part of chinese new years or everyone just giving themselves an extra-long holiday :P. prices probably will go up in february but i dont think this 100% means its because of the chinese.

i understand the fact you are bringing up here my sales of 5l chips at 6$-8$ each, the thing is i do not reg domains for 8.29$, i reg cheaper then you can thing of at GD, i know you would not trust me so if you want i can reg for you any .com domain at godaddy for 7$ each ( 100 a day ).

Beside that i sell 5l chips that i don't plan to hold like a pattern that is not batter then the one i am holding, i hold near 1.2k of ABACA 5l chips and will hold it for another 6 months, have you seen me selling one from that pattern for under reg fee.

I mainly sell almost buyout completed domains like AABCD ABBCD you get the idea. Again its not like we are forcing some one to buy from us and unloading all our stuff to quit the market. I my self reinvest after each sales on 5l cause i think its a good investment for the next few months, and thats why i share my thoughts on this forum.

January is always slow for anything related to online business from eCommerce to Domains etc., Hopefully Market will pickup after Chinese New Year (Mid Feb)..

JB Lions does have a point no matter what dntoolz's reasoning is and I get it, but I have 5l chips and am not selling any even if I could make a small ROI as i'm waiting to see months down the road where things are up to and if they get sold out by that stage etc. In addition because Dntoolz is selling at these levels no one else can sell for ROI here so you have the forum to yourself for these type of 5l chips, so good luck to you as no one can compete

What some people here are failing to appreciate is this:
Everyone has been saying for over 3 months now that things will go up and improve soon and the fact is, they really haven't done that since Mid October. Thus, if you're like me and have been patiently waiting since then you have tied up investment capital for nothing whereas the short term buyers and sellers probably have done much better.

4l.com chips are a great example of this. They were over 18k RMB floor Mid October time and have never got close to retesting those highs since then. People say Dec and Jan are quiet months traditionally and of course Feb will see Chinese New Year so more reasons to suggest nothing will happen and more time lost. The fact remains that Late October and November overall were also very poor so the jury is out if prices really will improve or not.

Having seen recent months, what seems to be happening is the big Chinese boys are buying up short domains in every rubbish extension and gtlds, as they can take them from reg fee to doubling or tripling money faster this way. Thus, there's always a risk they won't be bothered pushing up 4l.coms or .nets anymore as ROI is not the same.

I'm not saying prices will not go up again at some stage but i'm saying that, tons of people have been predicting price increases for 3 months now and have been wrong time and again. Plus, there are other risks such as my point above and others like the economy, Yuan etc.

It's just the ebb and flow of worldwide business... most marketing companies have a much lighter workload Dec & Jan.

Things will not go up for 'chip' 4L, the peak has been reached... here comes the price normalization. Domains are going to have a tough year, businesses worldwide are not doing well.

On a positive note, find undervalued namespaces and invest in those - 2016 is a good time to buy, but not today wait a few months.

As much as I hate to agree with domainvp as i'm invested in 4l chips (bought a long time ago so not a problem for me personally at present) I think there's every chance he's right and the peak won't be found again, time will tell I guess which way things go.

It just gets a bit tedious when everyone says over and over how everything will be alright and go up again soon and many have been saying the same thing for many months and it hasn't happened. Those that bought at $3k each for 4l chips in October must be getting very worried by now.

Then of course there are those that were saying how things were about to skyrocket and have not been back since to admit they were wrong surprise surprise. Indeed some of these posters are selling out now for what they can get.

As far as i'm concerned Late Feb and March in particular are going to be vital.
If things don't pick up by then, it's likely time to get out and run with whatever you can IMO.
