Not going to be President:
Ron DeSantis' pastor says gay people should be "put to death"
"The pastor who delivered the invocation at Florida Gov.
Ron DeSantisβs (R) second inauguration has said that gay people should be put to death.
Tom Ascol β senior pastor of Grace Baptist Church in Cape Coral, Florida β made his comment on Twitter while criticizing Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX). On Monday, Cruz issued a tweet criticizing
Ugandaβs new βAnti-Homosexuality Act,β a law that punishes βaggravated homosexualityβ with death.
βWe can string them up above a bridge so that the public can see the consequences of that kind of wickedness.β
Cruzβs tweet called the law βhorrific & wrong,β adding, βAny law criminalizing homosexuality or imposing the death penalty for βaggravated homosexualityβ is grotesque & an abomination. ALL civilized nations should join together in condemning this human rights abuse.β
Ascol disagreed, writing on Tuesday, βTell it to God, Ted.β
The pastor then cited Leviticus 20:13, the Old Testament verse that says, βIf a man lies with a male as with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination; they shall surely be put to death; their blood is upon them.β
Ascol asked, βWas this law God gave to His old covenant people βhorrific and wrongβ?β
