The first problem is lack of education. While educated Indians can lead the world, there are vast numbers of people who are primitive in their thinking. If you put a garbage bin right next to them, they will still just throw their trash in the street.

Same thing happened in rural China, people threw their trash out in the street and let the rain take it away. It all ends up in the river...a floating mess. It was so thick in places you could walk on it. The fish were jumping out of the water just to breathe.

I am reminded of a quote from a French businessman know both countries well. He said some remote places in China were 100 years behind the times, but some remote places in India were 1000 years behind. Sometimes not so evident in the buildings and such, but in the way of thinking. That was some years ago, but it's all still a work in progress.

When I first got to China, I remember people in our car laughing at me trying to properly dispose of something. They just say,"This is China. Throw it out the window."

A manic and dirty city like Dhaka, even, was a beautiful trading port with tree lined canals just 100 years ago. Overpopulation, modernity and waste with nowhere to go has transformed it.

And, like I mentioned, developed countries that claim to be models of cleanliness often just ship their waste off to poor countries.

Plastic was a miracle material a century ago. Who knew it would come to this? Makes you wonder what we are doing now that will cause big problems 50 or 100 years down the line.

Exactly. (y)

One doesn't have to be a Christian to understand the words, "...for they know not what they do." But how long can ignorance be "Forgiven"? When will there be a reckoning? Many are seeing that now, but the truth will only be revealed to those who are willing to listen.

Who likes garbage anyway, but it's a reality. Just like the kind of garbage that constantly needs to be dealt with in political threads, lol. ie. the former administration just got tossed out the window, but the garbage rhetoric left behind remains. :xf.wink:

For example, decisions to protect polluters over public health concerns had a toxic legacy, including:
  • Placing heads in key EPA positions with close ties to the fossil fuel, coal and chemical industries. In fact, those heads who made a career of undermining the agencies effectiveness in the first place.
  • Slashing funding for eco-friendly programs. In fact out of ever $10 the govenment spent, only 2 cents went to to the EPA. I actually thought people cared about their home, well they did, they voted!
  • Ending the Clean Power Plan and dismantling common sense climate protections, not to mention pulling out of the Paris Accord etc.
Some of the extreme examples of what can only be labled as 'environmental terrorism' have been rectified, but many more still exist, and change will come slowly, but only if supported by the public

Fortunately, many Americans who used to take clean air and water for granted are finally waking up to the dangers, but I wouldn't call it 'woke', I'd call it common sense. (y)

What is the carbon tax?

Climate change is a threat to the country—in fact, a global threat. The Canadian carbon tax was passed by the Supreme Court in 2018 as the Greenhouse Gas Pricing Act.

But contrary to popular belief, the carbon tax is not a tax—it’s a carbon pricing program that’s been mislabelled by political parties that oppose the program. It’s actually a carbon pricing program.

Carbon pricing does not collect revenue directly from Canadians. Instead, carbon pricing is applied to goods and services from industries that emit higher greenhouse gas levels with the goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.

How does carbon tax work?

The most common argument against carbon pricing is that it won’t work, it will suppress economic growth, and punish low-income Canadians who can’t afford the extra cost added to goods and services. The last claim is unfounded since all low- and middle-income Canadians subject to carbon pricing will receive their contributions back as Climate Action Incentive Payments. The typical Canadian family will receive a higher dollar amount back in their Climate Action Incentive Payments than they pay in federal carbon pricing fees.

For example, the average Ontario family of four will pay $362 extra due to the carbon pricing program, but they’ll receive $436 back for a net benefit of $74.

In contrast, the average Albertan family will pay $534 through the carbon pricing program and receive $880 back for a net benefit of $346.

Geoengineering Is The Primary Cause
Of Global Climate Change, Not CO2

Nonstop Chemical Geoengineering Has Pushed the Planet into Climate Chaos by Purposeful NWO Design

2021 Set to be One of the Hottest on Record Because of the Intensified Chemtrail Operations Worldwide

New World Order = One World Government = CO2 ‘Management’ Regime
There is actually a very good reason why no one ever from the establishment — political or scientific — ever talks about chemtrails or chemclouds in public. They are strictly forbidden from even mentioning such a super-secret program that undergirds the New World Order (NWO) agenda to create a One World Government. Hence, there is never any official word issued from government or weather reporting agencies despite their high level of awareness regarding the chemtrail aerosols sprayed overhead (as in directly over their heads). Until now!
...
Now that the geoengineers have sufficiently ramped up their spraying programs to create continuous cloud cover over vast swaths of the United States, Canada and beyond, they have conditioned the populace to believe that this is the new normal. You know, it’s also called climate change. Or Global Climate Change (GCC) when they want you to believe that this is an overarching planetary climate pattern directly caused by human activity, specifically anthropogenic CO2 generation.
Well, GGC certainly is caused by humanity, except most of any climate change is being purposefully geoengineered by the geoengineers. They (NWO globalist cabal) have conveniently forgotten to mention that because of their fixation on CO2 production, and its calculated control. Only by fastidiously controlling carbon inputs and outputs can a “Global Carbon Control Matrix” be put into place. Because it is CO2 which must be strictly controlled in their New World Order, they already have designed a full-blown Global CO2 ‘Management’ Regime.

.. and more in the linked article.

Mouthpiece for leftist gov policies and green billionaires, how original.

You may like receiving Climate Action Incentive Payments, but if you were a productive member of society, you would understand that pricing carbon is very much a tax and all costs will be in the end passed to the end user, and the pricing of carbon will keep going up if Paris Agreement targets are to be met. UN reports call for $550 per tonne, and it is currently $170.

Before posting shill messages, think about where the money for rebates comes from. Even if the tax is neutral to federal coffers, it taxes and redistributes funds. This may appease the feeble minded that don't pay attention to why costs are rising and are more likely to notice a payment from the gov.

While I would agree there is truth to to the chemtrail argument, I don't accept it as THE number one cause of global warming. In fact, cloud cover may even reduce global temperatures, but combustion of fossil fuels such as coal is the main contributer to pollution and exacerbate the climate debate.

Chemicals produced by coal-powered plants, such as coal ash must be disposed of at a high cost, therefore it is one of their methods to distribute and disperse this end-product pollution through chemtrails.

Here is an interesting video that provides food for thought on what the coal-powered energy industry is doing, on chemtrails and the Koch brothers' influence in the climate change debate:

Got news from friends living in southern India. They said about 30% of what is being reported in the news is true but your post is right on. Expect the media to sensationalize everything.

It's not the riche or middle class's fault; It's India's fault. They have an informal caste system and a corrupt socialist system that makes upward mobility very hard.

oook so "chemtrails" is no longer a conspiracy theory, I wonder which one is next to go mainstream.
And while everyone agrees that particulates are nasty pollutants, again, CO2 is the essential nutrient for plants, part of nature's means of recycling, and it's also essential in the process of transporting heat from Earth's surface to outer space by convection and then radiation.

IMO, the blame goes first and foremost to China and if all countries in the world had any cojones, they should send the bill to China for the damage they have done on human lives and the economies around the world.

I'm not against CO2, I occasionally drink carbonated products, use it in my grow room, and dry ice for cryogenic extraction. In fact there is a CO2 shortage right now. Rather than focussing on just one molecule, try looking at the bigger picture...there are alot of associated molecules and chemical by-products from burning fossil fuels all along the supply chain and beyond. For instance, methane gas released from uncapped and/or abandoned wells is a HUGE problem contributing to global warming.

Yes that CH4 molecule is no friend of your plants in the grow room, the best thing to do is to burn it and transform it into healthy CO2 and water which nature can recycle just fine. Leaving methane to accumulate into pockets in the ground is a recipe for disaster. The most sensible solution is to extract it and burn it, and use the leftover heat energy in the process.

Some recent articles discussing the phenomenon of methane deposits starting to release into the atmosphere:

The Giant Awakens: Arctic Methane Deposits Have Started To Thaw
Large amounts of methane have been observed escaping from the seabed off of the northeastern coast of Siberia, emanating from previously-frozen pockets of the powerful greenhouse gas, a “sleeping giant” that threatens to trigger a global warming feedback loop
Methane is a powerful greenhouse gas, capable of retaining up to 86 times more heat energy than the same mass of carbon dioxide over a 20-year period. Outgasing of this methane contributes to the buildup of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, in turn increasing global warming that melts more Arctic permafrost, that in turn releases more methane—an unfortunate feedback loop

Arctic methane deposits 'starting to release', scientists say
The latest discovery potentially marks the third source of methane emissions from the region. Semiletov, who has been studying this area for two decades, has previously reported the gas is being released from the shelf of the Arctic – the biggest of any sea.

For the second year in a row, his team have found crater-like pockmarks in the shallower parts of the Laptev Sea and East Siberian Sea that are discharging bubble jets of methane, which is reaching the sea surface at levels tens to hundreds of times higher than normal. This is similar to the craters and sinkholes reported from inland Siberian tundra earlier this autumn.

Even for a an American journalist, this is a new level of stupid. How can she even remember to breath? (And she has over 100,000 followers.) The top comment was priceless though.
