Win or lose, it doesn't really matter in the bigger scheme of things. People fought and died over lines drawn on a map a long time ago. I have a modest understanding of US history, I daresay moreso than what most Americans know of Canadian history (and elsewhere), shaped primarily from my own desire to learn through research, extensive travel and from the people whom I've met along the way; not just by what is commonly accepted (printed history books or by what was taught to me in school). I currently reside on the reservation by choice (due mostly to pandemic). I also own land elsewhere, which is a fortunate thing as it provides opportunities that those from my tribe cannot entertain. I know of the Trail of Tears and of the forced removal of Indians off their land. It is a disturbing chapter of US history that ought to be reconciled IMO. Canada is undergoing a period of Reconciliation. These inequities have been witnessed across our shared land, and throughout the world by colonialist governments, regardless.

What's the problem with asking that question? If a similar question was asked about Whites, no one would care... and rightfully so!!!

It's like saying "Island of Madeira" or "Madeira Island" GILSAN will NOT get offended if you use either!
