Anyone here who claims to be conservative...
Had Obama declares a “national emergency” for gun violence and used it to restrict your 2A rights, you’d have been pissed as hell. And rightly so.

You should be equally pissed about declaring a “national emergency”:to,build a wall. He’s using this to override the constitutional process of our government for something that is NOT an emergency and will take years if not decades to get done.

An Ebola outbreak would be an emergency. Mexico declaring war on us and sending their troops to the border would be an emergency.

Building a wall is not an emergency.

This leaves the door wide open for the next democratic president to declare healthcare an emergency and implement Medicare for all. You’d all be outraged, and rightly so because it would be an abuse of power.

Though people dying because they can’t afford their medicine or a doctor is still closer to an emergency than building a wall.

This could be a very serious situation, I don’t think a lot of Americans really understand the possible implications of the declaration.

Section 4 of the 25th amendment is the process for removing a president incapable of carrying out his / her duties. It requires the Vice President (and a majority of congress) to enact, the FBI and CIA have no say in it. Actually, it looks like there are time limits once the process is initiated. (21 days.)

30 "national emergencies" in effect as you typed this. RE: the #2A, constitutional rights can't just be suspended by the President.

We could use the National Guard to drive criminal illegal aliens to military airports for a free ride home though.

Not surprising. The FBI, DOJ and CIA would be happier if elections were eliminated altogether and they simply chose a leader themselves.

https://news.yahoo.com/mccabe-25th-amendment-discussions-doj-remove-trump-office-140646145.html

I noticed 60 minutes interviewer didn't ask what actual evidence the FBI had President Trump was a Russian spy.

@hughhewitt

Where, when, by whom? Think I'm going to wait for specific details on this before concluding who was "plotting" an ouster of @realDonaldTrump at DOJ. The former deputy director is trying to sell books after all.

Invoking the amendment takes time, it can take years to actually execute the order.

From what I read, it only takes a 1 third of the house or senate to override the order. One thing is clear, President Trump was right to fire Comey. Rosenstien should also be fired.

1/3 can override the order, but convening takes time, legal takes time. The firing of Comey was a just decision and completely justified. Rosenstein should be fired as well. but this is the tip of the iceberg of people working for the American people that need to be fired in Washington, that on both sides of the parties.

It is a very very well thought out move to counter with a national emergency. At this point, I see the move being inevitable, if not tomorrow, sometime soon.

This will test a very divided America to its core should the national emergency last any length of time. IMO

It is obvious that people refuse unity. so be it, I have talked about unity until I am blue in the face, , if President Trump declares a national emergency, shit gets fucking real people.

We have two parties fighting each other tooth and nail, What does the political rhetoric do for the American people?

none the less, things have escalated to that point, I guess we will find out soon enough about the national emergency.

We have a national emergency, all right. Its name is Donald Trump.

We have a national emergency, all right. Its name is Donald Trump, and it is a force of mindless, pointless disruption.

The president’s decision to officially declare an emergency — to pretend to build an unbuildable border wall — is not only an act of constitutional vandalism. It is also an act of cowardice, a way to avoid the wrath of Ann Coulter, Rush Limbaugh and the rest of the far-right commentariat.

Americans are less divided on immigration than the media and DNC leadership.

Eugen Robinson: " to pretend to build an unbuildable border wall" Trump is building the wall

Gov's #1 job is to protect our sovereignty.

Democrats divide everyone by race, tell them they are victims of the white majority and manufacture fear. When racism doesn't exist, they'll fake it.

None of the proposals in this budget, written by democrats, include increased immigration or work permits; only rules that enforce illegal behavior. Why?

Identity politics is how you get people like AOC and Ilhan Ohmar. AOC grew up middle class but lies about being from the "bronx". Ohmar is a refugee from Somalia that recived affirmative action advancements and opportunities that would be impossible to obtain in her own country.

Ohmar clearly hates the country that saved her. AOC hates her own middle class upbringing.

Isn't it a form of fear mongering when schools are setting up shooting drills for their pupils ?
You don't even see that in war-torn countries.

Gun safety training classes are not shooting drills. I realize you don't like the #1A or #2A but they are facts of life in the USA. Just like mandatory arrest for fighting back against a home invasion or misgendering someone is a fact of life in the UK.

In the UK, they have police beating bushes for sharp object because criminals stash their weapons. I'll keep my gun, you keep your fake security.

From the original article:

"Students enrolled in both the 7th and 8th grade at schools in the North Butler and Clarksville districts will be required to take part in a mandatory hunter safety course taught by the Butler County Conservation Board, Radio Iowa reported on Thursday."

Rural states have high gun ownership rates. People hunt, personal protection is important when the police are a 1/2 hour away. Some counties, you have to go to the police station to file a complaint.

Gun safety courses are NOT shooting drills and are not new. They teach people how to SAFELY handle, maintain and store a gun. These kids MIGHT get a chance to shoot a gun at a range.

99% these courses are lead by NRA certified safety instructors.

I know. But do you think it is normal that in your country people learn to leave in fear from childhood, for good or bad reasons. Doesn't seem to be a safe and happy country.

Brilliant idea to bring more guns to school.
What could possibly go wrong (beyond theft, mishandling or accidents).

It's funny when you think of it, children are too young to drive or drink alcohol (or watch porn), but they are not too young to hold a gun. Perhaps you should give them alcohol and cigarette training too, so they can see for themselves why not.

Tl;DR: do you even think for a minute how absurd this is ?

How would you know?

They are not using real guns or live ammunition. It is a gun safety course. You're hyperbole and intolerance is the only problem I see.

Good thing you're a liberal because you sound a lot like a bigoted snob.

Tl;DR: do you even think for a minute how absurd this is ?

You lied and mischaracterized a hunting safety course as school shooter drills. Why should I care what you think about the way we live?
