The Government of Montenegro recognized the potential worldwide appeal that .ME could have and decided it should be operated as a generic name space to gain the maximum benefit for Montenegro. The Government issued a public RFP in November 2007. The goal of the RFP was to find a Registration Agent that could operate an international registry, provide world class backend registry services, and provide the marketing and promotional muscle needed to make .ME a worldwide success. Ultimately, we believe they made an excellent choice!

The contract was awarded to doMEn, d.o.o., a Montenegro based joint venture (doing business as .ME Registry) whose partners are Afilias Limited, GoDaddy.com, Inc., and ME-net d.o.o.

Landrush will start June 6 till June 26, domain names with more than 2 applications will go into Auction.

Go Live on July 17.

I have a keyword domain that I bought at the .me launch...
I shelfed it, and I am now considering where to sell it and how to maximize value.

According to Adwords, (just in Canada/US/UK) the combined search for this keyword is approx 1 million searches per month. Didn't bother checking worldwide but I'm sure that would increase the total by quite a bit.

Do you people think the Dot Me market will get better or worse? Do you think I should be considering namecon for selling venue? Or, perhaps it would be better to try to develop a little bit and bring good traffic to it first? I'm not much of a developer and have typically just flipped domains for small profits in the past....

Thoughts appreciated.

I wouldn't bother with NamesCon, not for .me anyway.

I think .me is a great extension. Who's to say where it will go, but I could see it outperforming many others especially gTLDs.

I can't say I'm in love with Dot me. Biggest sale I did was for a thousand bucks.... less SEDO commission.

I'm hoping a good keyword .Me might be worth some good bucks.... but like I said in my earlier post, I haven't really followed the .me market for quite a while. It's good to see the recent sales though! Some of them worth several thousand dollars even.

I just typed my domain into Estibot and I guess actual searches for my keyword are 17 million per month (broad) and exact are 1.25 million... this excited me. I checked out estibots estimation of the.com version and it was valued at over $1 million, but then I stumbled across a recent .org sale of the same keyword... .org sold for $20,000. I was bummed out by this because I don't think a .me will fetch as much as a.org... anybody agree/disagree?
