Nice background on the evolution of digital in India. Looks like mobile is the best, quickest option.
I agree the India market could be some years off for end users in India. I heard the old folk don't want to pay as in, "still in the old ways of doing business".
For investors could be sooner. The middle class, younger newer wealth coming
out of all the startups ;) inside India and outside India .

Short . almost any tld is the new "King". This is why I can believe to some degree .in, in the "shorts"category will continue to do well with outside investors. The number of short 1-4 C registered will surpass the number of .com's reg'd in 2-3 years given the options now available. The number of "shorts" will always be "finite" compared to everything else. No bubble in this category for a very long time.
Even 5-6 C's could remain at a healthy median if 1-4's are held in large enough circles.

Thank you new wealth middle class around the world, and thank you new gen hybrids for some of the great new tld's you have invested in, and thank you China for bringing value to an untapped segment of the industry.

Cheers!

Well presented discussion providing insight to the industry in India and, had an opportunity to peruse the linked website.

Nicely done and informative.

I have personally sold over 1000 .co.in/.in over the last few years.

Very few have been to India based end users, nearly all to domainers,as mentioned end users in general have yet to embrace the value of good localised keyword internet presence and rarely pay reasonable prices, usually a lowball head banging exercise.

I did see a reference to LL.in, not available to the best of my knowledge.
