The appraisal scam....again. -Name Investment Boutique LLC-Brand Domain Name Services

Spaceship Spaceship
Watch
My suggestion is that Namepros file a UDRP dispute as hes using your name in bad faith, amongst other illegal things.

From: "George Petersen" [email protected]

I'm thinking about 60,000 - 80,000 USD for your domain. What do you think
about this price range?

Have you had your domain names evaluated in the past? I mean domain
appraisals. Without valuation we cannot be sure in the sale price. It's very
important for me in terms of reselling too. But we must engage a valuation
company with REAL manual service. So I will only accept valuations from
independent sources I and my partners trust.

To avoid mistakes I asked domain experts about reputable appraisal
companies. Please check this blog with suggestions from other sellers and
buyers:
thenamepros.com/Archive/62931485.htm

Do you sell domain with a web site or just the name?

Domain without content is ok with me. Web site is not necessary.
If, for example, the valuation comes higher you can adjust your asking price
accordingly. It will be fair. I also hope you can give me 12% - 15%
discount.

After you send me the valuation via email (usually it takes 1-2 days to
obtain it) we'll continue our negotiations.

What is your preferred payment method: Escrow.com, International wire
transfer, PayPal.com or something else?

Hope we can come to an agreement fast.

How To Fight The Domain Appraisal Scam

...swreg.org fraudulantly gives the professional austhetic appeal of a global corporate website by using digitalriver.com 's name and logo, in fact the logo of digital river has been fraudulantly reproduced on swreg.org 's website to give it that global corporate image as a company that provides ecommerce solutions for businesses.. don't buy into that idea... this is in fact the home of the scammer!
I'm sorry, but this information about swreg.org is incorrect. They are NOT the scammer but part of Digital River. DR is located in the Minnapolis/Saint Paul metro area and that is also where I live. When this scam first came to my attention last year I contacted SWREG and confirmed that they would issue REFUNDS to people that fell for this scam. Several people have posted in other threads that they got their money back. If you can't find those threads and lost money to this scam, SEND ME A PM and I will help you. But please search for the information first, ok? :)

Now, I will repeat what I have said many times, but no one else is saying for some reason:

1) If you paid for the fake appraisal because someone told you to, you are not alone and CAN get your money back if you paid via SWREG. Contact them and send them all the emails between you and the scammer. Be patient with them and they should help you. Let me know if they don't.

2) If you get these scam emails and DO NOT fall for the scam, report the emails as SPAM and refer to this and other threads about this problem. Spam reports WORK if enough people do it. If you don't know how to report spam, do some searches or contact me and I will explain how EASY it is.

These are real ways you can effectively help to fight this problem.

First day parking at Sedo I get spam

I have always parked domains with google until yesterday when I started with Sedo. Never a single domain related spam. One single day with Sedo and I start getting spammed. What gives?

re:subject line domain offer

I just received an email similar to the ones other member's have received, and the name of the sender is now Dirk Englemann

Hello,

I noticed that you currently sell the domain in the subject line (correct?). Please respond with a desired price in the subject (in USD, Euros or UK pounds).

If you have other names for sale please email me your domain list with prices.

So, thanks for getting my hopes up Dirk, I guess the buck stops here. I'm glad I found this forum while investigating Dirk on Google, the Whois info., really made me wonder why this company he represents is only a month old...no suckers here !

And here is his last communication with me, he offered me 60-$80,000 for my domain names.

Dear F. Bisen,

I'm thinking about 60,000 - 80,000 USD for your domain. What do you think
about this price range? I have 1,400,000 budget for 30-40 names.

But I need a professional valuation (domain appraisal) from you first.
Without a professional appraisal we both cannot be 100% sure in the final
sale price. It will minimize my investing risks.

Of course, we must engage a valuation company with a REAL manual service. I
don't trust automated services from companies I've never heard about.

I also need an appraisal service which verifies a possible trademark
infringement. It's important for me to know that you domain has no problems
with trademarks. You should not worry about it. You don't need to pay a fee
for this trademark verification service. Some good appraisers include this
option (trademark infringement verification) as a free bonus to the
appraisal service.

To avoid mistakes I asked domain experts about reputable appraisal services
with the trademark verification option. Please check this blog with
suggestions from other sellers and buyers:

I wonder how many people get ripped by these guys ?I'm so glad I found this forum, Thanks NamePros. you saved me a lot of grief.

Too bad, thought I would be making a nice sale on a domain that I didn't care to develop when I found this in my mailbox this morning. Luckily I'm somewhat suspicious of nature, found this topic and never got past his first mail.

Thanks for making this topic! He changed names again, here goes:

This bullshit is making me angry just thinking about it... He's just grinding through all whois records in a shameless fashion. Luckily he's a very poor script kiddie as in that he can not make realistic looking mail bodies apparently.

-------------------------------------------

Ding Ding :bingo:

My answer : I'm dealing with Sedo
http://sedo.com/us/services/domain-appraisal/?tracked=&partnerid=&language=us

Their answer : Very good but Sedo appraisal service does not include the trademark infringement verification. So it's not acceptable in our case. Many experienced sellers suggested me http://www.Domain-Cost.com. They provide free trademark infringement verification with the appraisal service.

Another scam

Hello guys,
Unfortunately I've been a victim of this scam.
I put some domains in Sedo and I've received these emails from Daniel Zuckerman:

Part One:
De: [email protected]

Hello,

I noticed that you currently sell the domain in the subject line (correct?). Please respond with a desired price in the subject (in USD, Euros or UK pounds).

If you have other names for sale please email me your domain list with prices.

Part Two:
1000 eur. Ok.

But I need a professional valuation (domain appraisal) from you first.

sale price. It will minimize my investing risks.

Of course, we must engage a valuation company with a REAL manual service. I

1-2days to obtain it) we'll continue our negotiations.

What is your preferred payment method: Escrow.com, International wire
transfer, PayPal.com or something else?

Hope we can come to an agreement fast.

Looking forward to your reply.

Part three:
I see, but it's a standard practice to show a professional valuation to
buyers. Nobody will do business without it. I'm a businessman and have no
intention of changing rules which help both parties to avoid additional
risks.

Unfortunately after this convincing email I paid for the domain appraisal and I sent to Daniel Zuckerman (the scammer)

Part four:
Thank you. I accept your valuation. It's very professional and reasonable.

Unfortunately, our client has bought a big package recently and does not
have enough money to buy your domain right now. He is asking to wait for 1-2
months.

If we buy the domain direct from you we won't be able to transfer it for two
months due to ICAAN rule. This rule prohibits reselling during two months
after purchasing.

Of course, we will do our best to force our buyer to buy as soon as
possible. But I suggest you not to reserve the domain for one month. Why
wait? I'm sure we
can resell your domain to other buyers. We have several potential buyers for
your name. If you agree with to pay us 15% commission upon every
sale we will start tomorrow.

I wrote about reselling in first emails. The buyer will pay 85% to you and
15% to me.If this sale fails I will look for other buyers. I've already
bought opt-in lists to promote your domains. I invested about $150 in these
opt-in lists.

I'm going to use your valuation in my promotio? Is it ok with you?

We should use escrow.com or other reliable service for escrow and transfer.
For example, if you list domains with http://www.Domain-Cost.com we
can avoid the brokerage fee (10% at Sedo.com). They don't charge commission
upon
sale and offers free escrow. So we can save up to 10%-15%.

Let me know what you think about my offer. I'm very interested in doing
business with you.

At this point I look in google and I found this site and this thread. I give you thanks a lot. I'm sure if I answer affirmatively to this email the scammer ask for more proffesional domain appraisals.

Now, I'm going to claim to SWREG to refund my money back.

I hope this information can help someone
Thanks:td:

Yes, do file a complaint and get your money back.
Explain the whole scam to SWREG and link to this thread.
With enough complaints the scammers will lose their payment processing facilities and it will make things more difficult to them.

People don't hesitate to post the emails you received in threads like these. The fake names and domains these scammers use get indexed very quickly and can save a lot of people from falling into their trap and loosing money.
Great job everyone posting here and helping each other :D
