If you own a domain name that gets decent traffic and you fail to pay its annual renewal fee, chances are this mistake will be costly for you and for others. Lately, neglected domains have been getting scooped up by crooks who use them to set up fake e-commerce sites that steal credit card details from unwary shoppers.

For nearly 10 years, Portland, Ore. resident Julie Randall posted pictures for her photography business at julierandallphoto-dot-com, and used an email address at that domain to communicate with clients. The domain was on auto-renew for most of that time, but a change in her credit card details required her to update her records at the domain registrar — a task Randall says she now regrets putting off.

I'm from India and I disable all international transactions.
I enable it if I wanted to do renew or purchase. This is the best option for me!

Those fake stores are leveraging the SEO feature of her expired domain. They understood it much easier to rank with expired domains with good SEO profile which will eventually aid their scam business for some month or even a year over until someone reports them and Google brings them down from their search result.

Cool but if put in on and off international transfer on your credit card becomes a common act. You rick having issues with your bank. The most secured is to have a separate account with card which is only used for online shopping like credit card and you only load it with a precise amount you need when you want to make a purchase. In such case if breached your main account and savings are secured.
