I know that cow is a sacred animal among the Hindu's .... but urine... aww man.

Well, one day you guys should come to my country Malaysia, here during thaipusam, the Hindu's celebrate by poking their entire body with needles, and yet they show no pain. It was even featured on Ripley's Believe it or not.

:yell: :yell: :yell:

Cow urine is dirty! How can you purify with something dirty?

well

when you talk of cow urine![gau mutra] you don't have to take a bath, just a few drops on the head is enough!
but then this is not all that a common practice, am hindu and i had never done all that, we feel cow is religious and do prayers for it.

though forcefully doing any practice is bad, and i hope the teacher gets punishment! :alien:

Just think, somebody had to ..um.. "milk" that cow to get the goods.

This just further supports my position that all religion is nutty koo koo :alien:

i think it's a bit extreme to associate social/cultural superstitions with religon... especially in this case.

for the most part, we are from a western culture/society...that views things like this as weird or strange, but then there is a group in india that thinks eating cow is even stranger.

i happen to believe that cow urine is filthy or that being part of a lower class doesn't necessarily mean that one is evil or in need of purification, but i come to that conclusion based upon the years of knowlege and experience i've collected in my few years on this earth.... who am i to tell someone 1/2 way around the world what is right and what is weird?

For the most part, orthodox religons do not advocate these things....it's individuals, that refuse to give up their social/cultural norms...and insist on interperting their religon by such norms, supersitions, and ignorance....that's the real problem. I believe that a majority of people are following their religon based on their interpretation of it....and only a small minority follow their religon as it dictated....but that's my opinion...no hard facts or statistics

but in any case, if the worst thing that happens to these kids is that they get sprinkled w/cow urine...then they should be so lucky. After all, consider the crap that is thrown at our kids at public schools here in the west.....with religon not to blame for that matter.

lol dude i would recommend u never talk to an indian about eating cow meat.. i would say 99% of indians would not eat it (without taking into religious considerations in mind).. Cow meat is never sold "officially" in the markets and it is illegal
