Taiwan hosted 7.67 million Internet domain names in July 2005

Press release, Taipei; Adam Hwang, DigiTimes.com [Wednesday 18 January 2006]

Taiwan hosted 7.67 million Internet domain names in July 2005, ranking globally fourth or fifth, according to a report released early last week by the Focus on Internet News & Data and Innovation Diffusion Enabler & Activator of the Advanced e-Commerce Institute (ACI-IDEA-FIND) under the government-sponsored Institute for Information Industry (III).

The data was based on surveys conducted by the Internet Systems Consortium (ISC), ACI-IDEA-FIND indicated.

Taiwan’s 7.67 million hosted Internet domain names consisted of 3.83 million for the top-level “.tw” domain and 3.84 million for the second-level “.hinet.net” domain, the agency pointed out. The number, a rough indicator of Taiwan’s Internet hardware serving capacity and Internet user base size, accounted for 2.17% of the 353.28 million Internet domain names around the world

Yep, most people missed this great opportunity with the general release of .tw late last year. The .com.tw etc had been around for some time.

I was lucky enough to get 30 good ones and have already made two sales in the $xxxx for Notebooks.tw & Blogs.tw - more to come.
