Well Moniker have dropped the ball again.....Only 2 .tv's in the T.R.A.F.F.I.C. East auction out of almost 2800 domains!! Absolutely ridiculous, especially when you see some of the crap that was accepted! I for one will never submit anything to their future auctions as it is obviously run by short sighted moron's.

congrats makis! i hope it sells big for you!

it is really not even just sad to see they only took two .tv's- i actually have gone beyond that- almost to just pure pity. even despite premium names- there are more than enough none premium generics out there- so you cant even go there- forget complaining about regular reg fee for a .tv as holding it back- they have:

.la - 40.00 per year
.fm - 90.00 per year
.nf - 156.00 per year
.sc - 100.00 a year
.vc - 40.00 per year
.se - 40.00 per year

.nf- now THERE is a hot, growing extension! gee, dont take me word for it either:
http://www.google.com/trends?q=.tv,.la,.fm,.nf,.sc

yeah! go moniker!

Just shows how much the selection committee know about domains! To select only 2 from the fastest growing ext over the last 12mths is shameful.

I see five .tv's in the auction

Hard.tv
Coolvacations.tv
instantmessages.tv
ipo.tv
pokertours.tv

It is nice to see a TV.com - but what a stinker - ClearanceTV.com

.tv has a long journey I'm afraid - and TV.com is a good few yards behind.

My Peru.tv made the final cut and was suppose to make it, but because of the $1k/year renewal fee they rejected it. Before they did they had me drop my reserve to $4500.00.

Laugh and the world laughs with you, cry and you cry alone…

That is my mantra to cope with the perceived concerted effort being placed to attempt to neutralize the emergence of the .tv extension. I have comes to grips that auction buddies such as Sedo, Moniker et al have seemingly acted above and beyond the call of duty to keep the extension down and as invisible as possible.

Case in point is the recent T.R.A.F.F.I.C. fiasco (for .tv) where two (2!)(this has since been risen to 5) names out of over 2,000 were perhaps begrudgingly selected. I entered 2 rather generic yet good names with a low reserve ($500, enough.tv and appropriate.tv) and was rejected. Fair enough, it very well may have been appropriate to do so. But only 2 .tv names of over 2000? There indeed is “something rotten in the state of Denmark”, to quote the bard.

To speak nothing of giving the bidders to at least have the chance of obtaining a tv name at this “prestigious” event. Oh well, one monkey don’t stop no show, so to speak.

All I can do is keep pushing the domain and entering the names. I won’t stop and the extension seems to be growing in spite of their apparent Herculean efforts to stymie it. I entered 10 more .tv names for the gala in Paris, many one word generics, 5 French and 5 Spanish. I don’t expect them to accept it of, course, but I ain’t stopping.

It would be nice if we could combine our efforts and get a prominent entrepreneur, such as a Mark Cuban or someone with a like mind and talent, to help sponsor, promote and/or market the extension. That would turn heads in the direction that is needed at this time. Sports, music, screen and stage and other forms of entertainment are perfect candidates for the .tv extension and would profit immensely from “good ol’” .tv.

In the meantime, we may just have to endure the injustice, slights and flat out conspiratorial treachery of those that seek to (unsuccessfully, I might add) derail the oncoming domain train that is .tv.

Quit submitting names? They may laugh at me as they press the delete button on their command console, but that is quite fair because I will only pop up again at the next grand event.

Just my two cents.

Thanx

My original reserve was $7500

My feeling is that if it gets into the live auction it would got for more then $15k whether the reserve was $4500 or $7500.00.

I have Genealogy.tv on SEDO Auction now with a low reserve met of $2750.00. I think this name would also do much better in a live auction format and I did submit many .tv names. Peru was the only one they were really considering.

I thought Democrat.tv and Republican.tv would have been perfect with all the buzz going round, but those also were turned down. Oh well. Our time will come. Patience is a virtue and to be honest I have nothing to complain about when it comes to my .tv business.

I am a little suprised at the selections to be honest. I noticed they accepted the .US version of a .Tv domain that I submitted. :td:

I would not trade the .TV for the .US ever. LOL.

Have you seen the latest version of the auction catalog for the upcoming Traffic East ?

Only 5 .tv domains actually which is ridiculous. Here they are :

blueprints.tv
hard.tv
ipo.tv
misses.tv
suspensemovies.tv

It's interesting to notice that while there are only 5 .tv domains in this auction, there are a relatively large number of domains with more or less meaningless extensions :
- 28 .cc domains
- 9 .vc domains
- 9 .sc domains
- 6 .tc domains
- 4 .ms domains
- 3 .nf domains

Well, to be honest, .tv is not the only extension which is discriminated against by Traffic/Moniker.

Actually there are only 2 .co.uk domains and only 1 .de domain, while those are surely the most successful major ccTLDs in the world.

I was told by my moniker rep that they are really only looking at one-word .coms, i think the other extentions as well as the lesser quality .coms are just for inventory sake.

Well, it's true that the majority of names are .com (2175 .com names).

But there are still many more domains in some extensions than in .tv (or .co.uk or .de) :
- 358 .net domains
- 294 .org domains
- 87 .info domains
- 52 .mobi domains
- 30 .us domains
- 13 .biz domains

So their selection is not exactly all .com plus just a few of each other extension. There's like :
- 10 times more .mobi than .tv
- 6 times more .us/.cc than .tv
- 3 times more .biz than .tv
- twice as many .vc/.sc as .tv

Seeing .tv more or less at the same level as .tc, .ms and .nf is quite ridiculous.

yep i agree- very surprised on the co.uk and .de too- but, no doubt they have the "you cant please everyone" approach- and no doubt they will make tons of cash- its not the renewal story, before that old memo gets posted again- look at my post above and the renewals on the extensions they did take- certainly not extension strength, look at the trends posted above.

must just be...

no, i cant bring my self to say it

Well, there's obviously no rational explanation other than the fact that Moniker/Traffic has an obvious agenda.

You'll notice that an excellent domain like peru.tv was rejected while they accepted many crappy ones (you probably had a look at their auction catalog so you know what I'm talking about).

As far as .tv domains are concerned, you'll also notice that they put in their auction catalog 3 other .tv domains (coolvacations.tv, instantmessages.tv and pokertours.tv) and removed them afterwards... Well, I guess they didn't want to take the risk of having 8 .tv domains in that same auction. That would have been almost as many as those very popular .vc or .sc domains !

whilst it may come across as easy for me to say (own half share in IPO.TV) I think people need to think long and hard about why auctions by the domaining establishment are taking such a blatantly anti .tv attitude in their selection or lack thereof,,,,

it is the same reason Snoop finds it necessary to consistantly hover over from his kingdom at DS and offer us his pearls of wisdom as to the doomsday scenario with .tv - fear that they are seeing the light too late.....that there may be an extension that doesnt challenge .com but which embraces a brand in conjuction to .com and is unique in being globally recognised....

think about it - i think .ws and .name are poor extensions in the extreme - that is my opinion and seek no-ones approval for it - i can tell you i have never wasted a minute of my time looking for a .ws or .name forum to convert belivers as to their fallacies for the ext - why? well if i belive the ext is rubbish, why waste my time on a forum trying to convince others.......it just doesnt add up unless i had an agenda

And so the sooner we can accept that there is an anti .tv agenda the easier it becomes to appreciate the motive behind it - the most important thing is end users- they are the ultimate justification for our investments and are what really pay the bills...

i have had a real increase in offers and sales recently of MY QUALITY names from end users - their agenda is one thing and one thing only - how much!!
