Sports.tv is presently in Pending delete and looks to be dropping with a $49,050 price tag!

Do you think there will be any takers?

Well, Golf.tv sold for $600 K, so I would think there will be takers.

Also, Sports TV was a major driver of online traffic in 2010... with The Masters and World Cup, not to mention that Cricket thingy that shocked YouTube.

2011 will be a killer Sports TV year online as well. Online sports and music TV events have become the core "common experience" in the age of global TV.

May not happen this time around, but Sports.tv could well be the first million dollar .TV domain sale. IMHO.

I also hope it does well because I have SPORTSTVSTATION.com

...I agree with you, eye-D. I also have a sports name (Sports360.tv) if an enduser thinks 50 grand is too high of an investment to pay.

It has been backordered for a while and I believe the current owners own Hollywood.tv. They also own some other extremely nice .tv!

Sports.tv is a steal! If I had the money or the Backorder (I have neither) I would pick it up without hesitation!

What is good, is that other sport names should increase in value because of this such as Volleyball, Track, Hockey, etc?

Wow ONLY $50K...
I think this is the absolute #1 Best EVER Dot TV domain name!

10x Better than Business (which sold for $101K), IMO.

Maybe Sex.tv could be a very close contender???

Whoever secures Sports.tv is definitely the luckiest person in the domaining world this year...IMHO.

I always felt sports names are the best category for .tv, better than Geo names. Hold on to Softball.tv, Vito, it will increase in value!!!

How do you figure ? ESPN is on 24x7 on 4-5 channels. I don't see a Hockey, Volleyball, Hockey channel (Canada and Ice excepted).

Domains are individual investments but if there was a "rising tide" effect I would think $50K for what a lot of people consider the premium domain should do the reverse.

To answer the question: It will be registered. It will be parked for 10 years.

I have to agree with you Jim.

As for Sports and actual Television, there are NO events viewed more than The Superbowl, and the World Cup!

Getting to softball, I would absolutely love to hold onto it and try to develop it but I just got a couple great opportunities that I have been chasing for awhile now and just needed a coupla grand to secure these incredible deals and figured this would be the easiest quick sale. Unfortunately the Holidays probably made a dent in everyones wallets as they have mine :)

As soon as I secure my next name though, I guarantee you, Softball will be OFF the Market and if any serious buyers do approach me, the price-tag will be much higher.

A wise man once told me...
Don't use your own new money to keep investing.

Well, I'm trying!

Here's a silly question to anyone out there.

Would you trade your entire portfolio for Sports.tv???

I love it, but dont think I would trade my entire portfolio for it.

Am I crazy?

How about you?

Unfortunately, there is licensing. Most deals are tied up with major networks. I know from experience that DEALING WITH MAJOR NETWORKS is not for the faint of heart.. and you lose.

Individual sports .TV are much more "realistic" in terms of potential imho.

For soccer I go to SOCCERNET.COM/BBC
For football I go to NFL.COM
For Cricket I go to Willow.TV/cricinfo.com/BBC
For Tennis I go to the USTA site/BBC
For general Sport I go to ESPN/BBC

Sports is TOO generic and TOO specific.....

I think that says everything to me. Sports.TV to me LOOKS far better than it IS.

I'd take your portfolio instead of it and I only know about 10 of your names :)

All I know is that of the sports names I own, such as Track.tv, Skating.tv, Jeu.tv (Game in French). they have all gotten good offers and if I sold would be a great ROI. This is what I see on my end.

I think Sport.tv is a better name than sports.tv
In Italy sport is also the plural version, and I think it's the same in many non-english speaking country.
It's a great domain but I'll choose Baseball.tv or Football.tv instead of it.
Btw I've only IceHockey as dot tv sport and never received any offer (I know that hockey is more used that icehockey).

Great point.

If it were truly a million dollar domain, I would have absolutely no problem rrading my entire portfolio for it.

Still $50K seems like there is definiely some serious room for a great ROI.

Based on the Business.tv sale this year - $100K is a pretty realistic asking/sales price.

I think this is a pretty reasonable price for a domain like this. It is certainly in the top handful of keywords that fit the extension well.

The only problem I can see with development is most major sports and leagues are under some type of licensing agreement that might make it pretty tough to provide quality content.
