Sometimes deals are right in front of your face

I was scanning through domain sales (I like to do that) when I noticed the other day, someone took advantage of some deals on Afternic. I've listed them below:

The following list of domains were purchased for $99 each on Afternic:

lwhy.com
sc0.com
qa0.com
roqq.com
lu0.com
gb0.com
madk.com
uour.com
fi0.com
hiph.com

Several of these names are CCC.com's with values well over $250 and these LLLL.com's are clearly worth more than that as well. I definetly wish I coulve jumped on the uour.com and hiph.com (not to mention the ccc.coms).

Moral of the story? Sometimes it pays to dig around some of the larger auction houses....

i picked up cheatcodes.co.in for $3 here at NP. In 5 years, won't that be worth a pretty penny!

I agree that they're out there, IMHO ... one (among a good few for me in 2007) case in point; from NameClerk's available lists I picked up CareerHosting.com for Reg. fee (note to self, send some additional NP$'s to NameClerk!), and just recently completed a nice private transaction for a smooth, healthy $Xxx - and the folks I dealt with were super super nice! And, they've since set up their new site! :gl: :talk:

Deals and potential deals are out there, friends ... you just have to have a keen eye and be, as always, selective IMHO.
Thanks for the post, Justin! :music:

omg, those ccc.coms were a real steal. i don't understand why people sell 2x below the market value???

I have gone through Afternic lists many times, but all names I chose had incredibly high reserves :(

Sometimes its all about digging around and waiting till the right time. Congrats to the buyer on those domains, he did well!

They get desperate for cash.
I like desperate sellers

It's not just at these Domain Sales monoliths that bargains are right in front of your face. I don't normally register many domain names from scratch. I usually buy them in the aftermarket. However, I think I've had a rich vein of new registrations in the last couple of months. Some nice looking names. I've been inspired by reading threads here on NP and elsewhere. Just the other day I was reading the thread about domaining using credit cards. I thought hmm.... I wonder if that domain was available. When I checked, the singular was taken but the plural was free. The plural was better imho. Regged it. It's getting approx 11 visitors a day, 1 or 2 clicks a day at $2.50 a pop. Nice, since it only cost me $5.99 at Name.com :)

I have had a bit of luck on tdnam picking up two 4L .coms for $10 each (two mos ago). Both were great deals imo, one is a vvcc and the other a semi premium pronounceable. I agree there are some deals to be found even here on np with good timing and lots of digging.

I purchased several VCVC.com domains on TDNAM in the $5 BIN section about 6-7 months back - so far, seem like solid investments =)

Before buying i contacted the seller to make private sale, but he answered that he was under contract with afternic and could not sell the name out of afternic..(imagine he received 99-60 usd after escrow fee)

Good find Spade. Wow, those are some steals on the buyers part. Nice.

Thanks for posting that, Rep added:)

I think this should teach us all to keep a better eye on the aftermarkets and forum sales threads..

Justin - I think what this guy is saying is that the domains didn't really sell for that much - but only "sold" at afternic for that much to lower the commission? At least that was my best guess... although then why not through a pure "whois" sale?

Hard to believe the previous owner (At least one a domainer from a quick search) didn't know the value of the names...
