SnapNames is pissing me off with these registrar choices. Now it's "Good Domain Registry," a seemingly brand new registrar out of South India with no online presence, other than their own website. Can someone explain why this happens, and whether or not I can I transfer out before the first 60 days?

"Congratulations! You have successfully acquired the domain name -----.com

We have debited your account $79.00.

The domain is now registered to you. The registrar now managing your registration is Good Domain Registry Pvt Ltd.

Your domain name was registered through Good Domain Registry Pvt Ltd.. You will be receiving an email shortly with your account information from the registrar's service provider. To make changes to your account, please refer to the email communication directly from the registrar’s service provider. Please note, it may take up to 24 hours to reflect account changes or account creations.

You may also receive a request to confirm your email address, per ICANN requirements. Please contact Support if you do not receive any email communications within 48 hours of the purchase.

Sincerely,
The SnapNames Team"

Thanks in advance,
-Mai

Unfortunately this is nothing new. Snapnames was notorious for doing this a decade ago and probably ever since. Back in 2008 or so I nearly lost a couple of names after struggling with sketchy registrars with horrible, near-absent interfaces, close to zero online presence and essentially no support.

Just have to do your best to secure your domain and get it the heck away and to a trustworthy registrar ASAP.

Unsure about the 60 days provision.

I cant remember the Registry but there was one a while back that was just something some dude put together, nothing was ever updated, no customer support, was horrible.

Just got to do your time then transfer out of jail.

Can't believe they are still doing this.. my debacle started in 2009!!

You domain was probably awarded by Snapnames to the same registrar that is 'managing' my domain.. I posted a thread about this a few days ago.. I went through the process and renewed with CC (successfully according to their interface) and now my domain is in redemption.. with a very arrogant customer service 'rep'

Oh.. and they want 259UKP.. thats ~ $342USD restore fee

Unfortunately could never transfer out due to 75UKP or $100USD transfer out fee
