Site ready, offers a service, how do I get it noticed?

Hello all.

My new project is now online, it offers what I believe to be a unique service to people.
How do I now go about getting it noticed by people who could make use of the site?
Your help and advice is appreciated.

Thanks nodws. Funds are a little tight at the moment, and there isn't many related websites like mine!
I'll just have to try the old word of mouth road!

I dont think you need a budget. I have worked with my popsinging daughter and we have gotten her featured on sites, in magazines, gigs, etc with no marketing budget. (Over 1 million song plays etc).

I am going to be launching some sites and I plan to get attention by:

Posting on forums (without being spammy)
Submitting articles to article directories
Sharing the sites with people in communities I am on
etc.
So we will see how it goes...

First thing you want to do is build backlinks. This can be achieved by linking to it in your forum signature, posting about it in forums (NOT spam), submitting your link to as many web directories as possible, etc.

Also, tell all your family and friends about it so that they visit it and hopefully will pass it on to THEIR friends. If you have unique articles of your own, try submitting it to large sites such as Digg, Redditt, etc (social bookmarking). If you are lucky enough to become popular, you'll get a mass influx of traffic in a day, and hopefully some of those people will be return visitors.

It's all hard work, but if you put effort into it and persevere, it'll pay off eventually. Best of luck.

Try to get it optimised in SERP for the correct word. Use Google adword external tool. Goodluck!
