SMART CONTRACTS AND DLT:

Smart contracts and DLT are often talked of in the same breath but are distinct technologies – albeit complementary and, in some instances, symbiotically linked13. However, the advent of DLT has created a platform on which smart contracts can be hosted and executed. This has brought smart contract concepts into the mainstream. One of the most powerful inter-relationships between smart contracts and DLT can be seen in answer to the following question: computers that can automatically execute code have been around for ages, so why haven’t smart contracts been previously developed? It is true that the automation of certain elements of existing legal contracts has been feasible for some time. Since the advent of computers in a mainstream context, it would have been perfectly possible (at least technically) for contracting parties to program a computer to automatically execute an event, such as a payment under a contract upon satisfaction of pre-defined conditions (for example, that a stock price hits a pre-defined price).

All are Decentralized Ledger Technology related. Though there are a lot more DLT companies without using DLT in their domains or using "DLT" but not blockchain related, or blockchain related but not yet established (mini sites, landing pages, etc...).

Good to see some activity in the thread, I do a search on DLT every week amongst others using the quotating marks and Google's date selector to see the latest news.

And even though I don't share stuff actively as I don't want this thread to look like as something hyped by a one man army, but for sure things look very optimistic on the long run for DLT.

I like DLT. It's like XR, because it represents all of the ledger technologies - Blockchain, Dag, etc. As more tech comes out more companies will be looking to change their marketing to represent the broader variety of DLTs in general instead of just mentioning one. It's also a term that will likely never become obsolete even as new tech comes out. So this keyword could see increased marketing usage in the future. I haven't heard of any DLT sales yet, so I'm not going all in on this one. Let's see!

Things have not changed much in terms of reported sales. Although the news are still full of DLT stuff. Every major bank is on it now, and on top of that all those large corporations that initially hated crypto, and blockchain, found their expectations in DLT. I think it's just a matter of time to catch on fire.
