It's all about value... I'm a investoor
I don't have real numbers for this name but from personal experience, I would say...
bet-at-home is loosing 15-25% of it's advertising spent to site betathome via leaking traffic.
(oportunity lost for it is a parked domain but I'm sure it pays for the renewal)
and where some are total lost traffic all together when the user did not figure it out.
But, It is a Very Strong Keyword 'PHRASE'
(by example)
This adds value to betathome to the right folks, just for the leaking traffic.
The amount of money one needs to spend to overcome this is just a example where the increased value in the non-hyphenated names comes from.

I'm not pro-moting or de-moting the hyphen, just adding context.
betathome was reg'd in 98 and bet-at-home in 99, both been around for a while.
On the surface, it appears to have been purchased as a alternative name to a higher aftermarket price.
To that I would say betathome has been overpriced up to now.

You can not generically compare a hyphen name with historic sales of hyphen domains for valuation purposes unless the keywords/market is the same. A hyphen is not a keyword. Nobody is LOOKING for the hyphen. You might compare in some way GAMBLING NAMES WITH A HYPHEN.
Each sale has a unique specific reason you must know before comparing it to others for valuation.

Someday this situation with hyphen's will change, based on user behavior.
But the problems with them remain 'mostly' in the U.S. market.
If your target markets are in the EU, you can fair much better.
Some of those that horde them 'could' one day shine.
But there is always more to know about names and marketing.

Absolutely... I am one of them.
Just can't make as much and most often the wait is a bit longer even for very targeted picks when selling by themselves..
I even find it a plus to have the hyphen version of the same strong non-hyphen I hold. Makes a nice package.
Yields better markup and easier sale as a package.
Often the hyphen added can tip the scale on the sale and get your price for the non-hyphen.
None of the sales charts can show you that stuff. You have to do your own research as to the how and why many of them sell. Having It with the non-hyphen helps keep's someone else from seo'ing on your generic search traffic.
