Just wondering what the general thoughts are about whether the recent trend to legalize marijuana will boost the prices of pot-related domains?

Great list @wrolie
Only keyword that I find "confusing" maybe too generic is "farm"...

Bummer Keith. Sad this happened to your client, and that it happens from so many 'desperate' so called domainers.

Personally, I have not emailed any potential customers with any of my cannabis names.... But, I don’t see any problem in doing so!

I understand people being upset with “spam” emails, but it sounds like Keith’s clients are a little whiny and need to grow up. I applaud and commend any domainer who is out there trying to sell their names!

Isn’t that what we’re all supposed to be doing?

Keith, I have found your posts to be useful and helpful. And having asked for some advice from you in the past, you readily and graciously responded with some helpful tips. But, I think expecting people to not send emails to potential buyers is somewhat counterproductive... it’s tantamount to trying to sell your home without contacting a realtor, doing any advertising or putting a for-sale sign up in the front yard and just hoping that one day somebody knocks on the front door and asks if they can buy your home..... not impossible, but certainly not very likely!

There is selling and there is spamming - two different things

A company buys a name and that makes it OK for other people to mass email them with crap, irrelevant names? I assume this has happened here, but could be wrong - though I doubt it.

I have seen, received some of the lists that people send out and they are complete garbage, non personalised and the grammar is appalling.

You have a right as a company to be selective in who you do business with and should not have to deal with a barrage of unwanted and irrelevant spam emails just because you have purchased one relevant name for a decent amount.

I am a big advocate of targeted, personalised emails that have been thought out and are relevant to an organisation - this takes work and a thought process, but it is not OK to spam.

This makes no sense!! No one would of known ‘who the potential buyer’ was to contact if Keith didn’t post the name of what he sold! He didn’t tell them who he sold the name to, they chased down who it was ‘hoping maybe’ they would want to buy their names too.

And with your example, you are saying instead of doing their own work to sell their own names (home), once a seller or ‘realtor’ tells them they sold a certain ‘home’, it’s fair game for other sellers to then search out that buyer of it, and try to sell them theirs too?!? Because...that’s what buyers do after searching out and buying something they wanted, they want to then be bombarded with ‘unsolicited’ spam selling offers of insuperior things they’re not interested in??!?!?

Sorry but you’re way wrong on this.
Let us all know next time you buy a home, car, whatever, so others will know you’re now fair game to spam you with their offers to sell you their home, car, or wharever.

Got an email from a company I just did a deal with. They have been bombarded with desperate requests from folks trying to sell domains. Due to this I’m no longer posting sales here.

Also, if your domain is quality you don’t need to chase down potential buyers. If you find yourself emailing someone with scraps, you should quit domaining.

This flat out sucks and it’s a shame these fools ruin what knowledge comes from the share of these sales .......

I would never tell you what to do, But I wouldn’t be angry a bit if you asked your client for the emails address they came from and then shared them here :)

This is bs...thanks you fools! Probably the same ones that send me emails asking if I want the .org .net blah blah of what’s I already have ...grrr

This is why I don't publicly announce specific sales. Thanks for all the past disclosures Keith!

I think you're right that we should not include any name containing 'farm'. Maybe 'farms' at the end (i.e. trinityfarms) and different variations of farm (farm, farmer, farming, etc.) as an exact match name (i.e. farming.org).

I own DrCanna///org
If this was mine, I would make a directory of doctors (MDs) that are pro cannabis and try to sell ad space.

~~~~~
Personally I am hoping @Keith to post his sales (not URLs) ..also don't hate the player..hate the game and if possible change the game..
No... you put a spin on what I said. And also perhaps I didn’t quite understand what had happened here....
Firstly, I didn’t realize that Keith had posted the name that was sold, and that someone or some people decided to start barraging that company with spam emails and crap names.... if this is what happened, then I am certainly with Keith and everybody else that’s calling out the person or people who are involved and agree that this is bad practice and just generally a BS maneuver.
With regards to my “home for sale” analogy, I was speaking strictly when trying to find a potential buyer and WITHOUT having previous knowledge of that potential buyer having already bought what they wanted.
Obviously you’re not going to try to “cold sell” a brand new house to someone who just bought themselves a brand new house.
That would be retarded
No spin. Your post quoted my replying post to Keith's post. That you didn't realize what my reply was referring to, well...
All is good though. (y)
It is incredibly unfortunate that people started spamming the buyer. I appreciated the information that Keith has posted in the past. It is encouraging to see the major sales. (I'm still jealous when he picked up canna shop.) I fully understand his decision. That is one of the reasons why I post information about my sales, but not the domain name.
Rookies do this all the time. One of my first sales a client told me this happened so i pulled most of my posts with domains and sales. Some people will also take social media handles of your domains.
Also branding company employees will lurch in the brandable forums and take others creativity and make it theirs. One of my fave 5L brandables became a brand weeks after i posted it here. That company will never and i mean never get the .com.
Again, putting a spin on it.... lol!
I know exactly what your post inferred. What I didn’t realize was that he had mentioned the name along with the price when he sold it.
The original post you quoted did not mention that.
I thought you knew that, but....
Anyways, all good! I think at the end of the day we’re on the same page there Hawkeye! 👍🏻
