I know there have been controversial domains that we've discussed here on Namepros and wanted to know what others would have done. Would you have regged this? Would you sell this?

Please no Dislikes, I regged it but I don't like what it stands for.

I think you need to look on the positive side of things ,Someone could use that domain to highlight Hitler's atrocities ,its History and it could serve to bring about the awareness of the past so things that happen in that era ,never happen again
I like it on the grounds that it can be used to educate

I don't think I would have reg'd the name, but if it came in as part of a bundle that I bought, I would probably use it. My preference would be to discuss the art works stolen by the Nazis, and the fact that treasures are still being discovered.

I was reading the news today and came across an article about that very thing. Some things were just found. That's why I checked the name in the first place. Darn news!

On a side note - I had regged 88.life when the extension opened, then dropped it (after renewing it for $78), when I saw there was a alternative meaning I didn't know of that had more traction already then just the possible meaning of a 'lucky life'. Just felt the negative of it, with a high renewal, outweighed the advantages of it.

I mean I even own a few religious domains, I don't follow any particular religion but I have no problem selling religious domains.

I think this domain could be used for a general information site, highlighting what a @sswipe Hitler was or can even be redirected to some sorta gay porn site just to p*ss off the Hitler fans

I have registered it as fast as I can be. It's good name & clearly if it's get developed with authority content about Hitler, it's get thousands of page views. Imo

Could not have said it better myself. The reason it was still available is because it has little to no value and even if you made a discussion site, or similar, how many people are still interested? Most people want to forget the stupidity of the past and the youth of today could care less.

i would not have any problem to register it..when i sell a domain to someone i dont need to know what you gona do with it because i m not the onwer anymore...

Sometime ago i was watching a documentary (i think it was on the history channel) about the second world war and Hitler and i remember a article from years ago that said Hitler was one of the most searched keyword on the internet (in that point of time), so i started thinking if i had the opportunity to buy or reg the .com domain would i do it.

It was like i was having a intense debate in my head, on the positive side the domain could be used for education, history, i could sell this domain for a good value to the right person (it would have to be someone that would use the domain for good) and much more positive aspects.

But on the negative side it's a controversial domain, it can be used for very negative aspects and i just wouldn't feel comfortable owning it.

I arrived to the conclusion if i had the opportunity to buy Hitler.com i wouldn't unless if there was another buyer/bider that was a Hitler fan and wanted the domain for negative aspects then i would buy the domain just to keep it out of his hands.

If i had the opportunity to hand reg the domain i would, worst case scenario i would let it expire or donate it to a education center or museum or someone that would develop the domain for education purpose keeping it out of bad hands, best case scenario i sell it for a good amount to the right enduser who can and will develop the domain to a history website and educate young and old people so we can learn from the past and maybe create something good from something bad.

I understand there's a big number of people who want to forget the past or just dont care about it but i truly believe there is a even bigger amount of people that want to remember the past, there is a big amount of documentaries on lot's of tv channels about bad people and atrocities of the past and this documentaries have been on tv channels for years so there is a demand for it, there is also a great variate of conspiracies around Hitler from high alien tech to treasures like the holy grail lol.

I love history being the bad or good part of it, history is the road humanity toke to get where we are today it's what defines humanity.

We should never forget the past even the negative aspects because lot's of man, women and children fought and give'd their life's for our men, women, children, mother, father, brother, daughter, son etc.. to live a peaceful live, we should learn from our past.

You are buying the domain, you are not preaching his philosophy. The worst thing that can be done is to forget about him and his actions, for them to repeat again.

It depends on the preference of the individual. If a person's choice is earning money and the domain is labelled as regged it will be at the discretion of the individual whether to register, renew, or purchase this domain.

No chance the world will forget about Hitler, so the 'for educational' purposes rational reminds me of what child porn domain owners say when questioned about why they own such names.

Not saying the owner is a closet Nazi, behind an Obama avatar... but the combination, in a right-leaning conservative forum, feels more like an appeasement post, to me, than a biz reg.

However, I do see a biz angle... if you know the story of Rommel's black bastard son -from rape, during his African campaign. Named Adolf (as a crude joke), and left on the doorstep of an orphanage. He grew-up to be the most brutal Nazi Hunter, simply called Hitmon... as 'Adolf' was reserved as the last word of victims.

So, 'Adolph H' would be a good title for a script, Hollywood would likely buy, to tell that story.
