If you see a domain on sale for a good price that you can buy, do not try to negotiate it more with the owner... see what happened to me.
It is 7 letter .org that I really really want to develop. Both .com & .net are parked. Com is way out of budget. The .net wants a minimum of $500 through Sedo.
Accidentally I saw the .org listed on sedo and at GD Auctions as a BIN for like $148. I thought "cool! I can afford this price but let's see if I can get it cheaper by contacting the owner directly". And I did...
Well, that was a really bad move! After less than 12 hours since my email to the owner, the price on sedo and GD was changed to $1,603! I tried to talk to him thought this and even making an offer for double his initial listed price but no luck. After several emails back and forth I rest my case and carry on dreaming about the domain...
Lesson learned, if the price is right, buy it!
