Sedo just added .app support

Wonder if using their nameservers with an .app domain will work? I can't check yet as my domains are in review.

Sedo just tweeted me back.

.App domains won't work when pointing to their NS servers.

They did use the word "yet" so I imagine that means they are working on it.

Interesting, is that for using their nameservers or redirects as well?

So long as your forwarding service has a SSL certificate installed for your domain - you would be able to forward there. But you can't forward anywhere if you aren't using a service with SSL installed for your domain.

I don't think Sedo can do SSL on their parking pages right, I think Donny from Voodoo said that stuff won't happen.

It's going to happen at some places but I am sure others will not or will wait longer because there are costs involved. No offense but Donny doesn't seem to understand that many hosting providers have no problems providing SSLs for their website clients on a larger scale than them with no problem.

I don't know about Voodoo. But I know Bodis is looking into it, Undeveloped says they have a solution in the works, Sedo used the word "yet" when they said they don't support it, and I imagine others will follow.

One solution is the Hosting Providers providing a free SSL for your domain on their forwarding hosting.
The other solution is anyone using nameserver pointing an their own servers - is for them to provide the SSL.
-or-
In the meantime use a service or site like what I am offering for free so we can point these to landers.

Otherwise .app or another other extension like it will not resolve. The future of the internet is definitely https. My guess is with the Big G push in multiple fronts we are only a few years from virtually all sites being https - possibly required by the browser.

I just noticed your sig line, well done. Thanks for the detailed explanation here as well Michael.

I am always impressed with sedo 's " speed of implementation "

...Undeveloped says they have a solution in the works...

as far as I understand
undeveloped needs only 1 certificate
as they redirect to a subpage of undeveloped
and not unlimited

Thanks @Michael M, domainsales.app seems like a great tool.
I have signed up and added my .app domains. They are all pending status as of now. Hopefully will get resolved soon.

If .app continues to be this confusing it's night night .app. I'm not really confused, it's just annoying when you have to cuddle with app.

.APP is a niche domain, I do not expect many domain names on SEDO listing.

Not in the case of an extension such as .app. Please look at my and @equity78 's conversation above.

Much appreciated... I just took a peak at the pending database, and it seems there are only a couple of sites that have not passed nameserver verification yet. I imagine your sites are active by now. If you have any issues with the site at all - send me a PM.

None have passed verification on my end. I'd imagine that's the hold up on the .app listings @ Sedo. (And I am using the self verify option). I am going to send them a message to let them know.
The same for me.
Even with TXT record.

When Undeveloped announced the (first?) app marketplace resale on Twitter the other day:
https://www.namepros.com/threads/first-app-sale.1081846/
they also indicated that they will be doing a promotion page for those selling APP on Undeveloped, so hopefully the SSL issues will be all gone by then. Thought would point out to those holding APP it is a way to get some notice of your APP domains.

Not in my case, I am redirecting to undeveloped nameservers
This doesn't work for .app domains as of today. With both Sedo and Undeveloped.
You can only redirect to their listings using URL forwarding by your registrar (registrar nameservers)... and if SSL cert is enabled at your registrar.

Or by using my free .app redirect service domainsales.app - until the registrars and landing companies get this figured out. :xf.grin:

In a way I hate to keep plugging it - but this is a free service that I am making nothing in any way off of. I just want people to be able to land their .app domains so they can be sold - as it helps the entire market. So I am trying to spread the word....

Yup. An alternative to this could be to use AWS cloudfront, that's pretty easy too and extremely cheap and the AWS Certificate manager issues certificates for free that auto renew.

See this tutorial here:
https://medium.com/@sbuckpesch/setup-aws-s3-static-website-hosting-using-ssl-acm-34d41d32e394

You just need to have a html file in your s3 bucket with an instant redirect header in it:

<html>
<head>
<meta http-equiv="refresh" content="0;URL=http://yourwebsite.com/homepage.html">
</head>
<body></body>
</html>
That's what I did for takeout////app.

My guess: parking companies do not expect a lot of type-in traffic on .app domains. So why bother.
