Not breaking any news here, the only value this post is adding is showing the promised third round domains in order of popularity - ranked first by approximate search popularity scores, and then (where search counts are the same or zero in the case multiple-word phrases) by the number of Google pages referencing the keyword/phrase.

Best of luck, I'm sure there will be plenty of steals - the difficulty is in following all of the auctions ending at the same time.

It's fiendishly difficult to follow the thing even if you're not bidding.

I should have made a YouTube video to illustrate the point. It doesn't sound like such a big thing, but IMHO it had a huge impact on the outcome.

Without a doubt it's head spinning Mobi Cheap,It's hard to concentrate however if you're focused on 2 or 3 names it's not as bad.
The only thing I have to consider is dev the mobi if I win...but I'm sure in the time frame I would be able to come up with something.

Regards

Good thing is if you want to buy you got way more chance as it can get mixed up in the frenzy.

The next round hold amazing names, but a lot of domainers are spent out so some jewels may go CHEAAAPP!!!!!! :imho: :sold:

I think we could see a lot of these names go for big money. After all, that could be a mighty nice tax deduction at just the right time for a LOT of big investors....

same here

the plural thing could possibly be argued either way, but in my mind they've definitely made the right decision in listing them together in the same auction

meaning that the singular and plural together (i.e. owned by the same party) are often worth way much more than apart

I might buy one or two if the price is right =)

deffiantly will be on the look out for these

IMHO inevitably some prices will be more than right for buyers - there is just no way anyone can offload 100 domains of this caliber to close in the same hour (even if we were to forget that this is a purely online platform that doesn't reach out to the majority of end users, and that all domains come with compulsory development requirements within six months), and for all prices to reach a fair market level.

Why is that do you think? I could see it also working to split the revenue - at least in theory.

That's the problem: usually if you own just one you would have at least some uncertainty about how much of your promotional spend and effort are really going to generate revenue for you (as opposed to revenue for your competitor holding the other version).

And knowing that, you can easily get into complex game theory if you try to analyze all the uncertain variables at the time of purchasing the first one. Bottom line though, if you the budget for both together is say $100k and they are equally strong, the average punter wouldn't spend anywhere near $50k on the first one unless he somehow knows that he would be able to buy the second one at a fair price.

Not explaining it in the best possible way here; do let me know if a more detailed example is needed.

well said, if you owned cars.xxx, it would be real nice to also have car.xxx for traffic, recall and explorers (especially when a product is involved) - 'brand protection'

It makes good sense. Thanks for explaining.

Most welcome krx; just a quick point in case you are new to domaining in general and not just .mobi:

Overture doesn't distinguish between singular and plural forms, so when I say "ranked first by approximate search popularity scores" in the original post above - and you see the plural right next to the singular in the rankings - that doesn't mean that they receive approximately the same amount of searches.

All it means is that Overture is not sophisticated enough to keep score of how many people searched for the plural as opposed to the singular - which is why they are shown one next to the other.

Minor additional point regarding the list in the original post: If the plural is shown above the singular (or vice versa) that means that there are more Google pages referencing it than the other form (or vice versa).
