Well....im sure Scottish and Italian football fans will have this date etched on their minds! Whoever wins qualifies for Euro 2008. The tickets aren't even going on public sale since all 52,000 members of the Tartan Army (which has a year long waiting list and the equivalent of $120 membership fee), have priority and have claimed all the tickets so they are like gold dust!

I dont have a ticket but im going to Glasgow anyway to go to the George Square Street Party to watch the game with the thousands who have no hope of a ticket!

This will probably be a hard game for the World Champions since Scotland have only ever lost 2 competitive games in 60 years at Hampden so its an intimidating place to play. So are all the Italians on NP confident of an Italian win/draw? :hehe:

A mate of mine has got a ticket for the game (he is a member of the supporters club). For previous games there was a restriction of something like 6 tickets per person for supporter club members but for this game it is 1 ticket per person.

Seems all of a sudden some Scotland fans have come out of the woodwork because Scotland are doing well, where were most of these people when Scotland were not doing so well?

It's always the way, people tend to follow the winning individual / team. When they stop winning, they move elsewhere.

Fingers crossed for Scotland, very dissapointing result earlier this week for them. I'll be cheering them on from across the border ;)

The support has always been there imho
There is undoubtebly a hardcore following.....25,000 Scottish fans were in Paris for an away game on a wednesday night and brought Paris to a stand still :tu:

I dont know of a single footballing country that can bring that much support for a country as small as ours and out-sing the home nation at a national anthem (all be it out of time :hehe:) http://www.dailymotion.com/visited/...2yrpl_flower-of-scotland-hymne-ecossais_sport

Bring on the Italians....

Before hamden was built kev there was great debate on the need of it. When it was finally built it regularly had less than half capacity filled even in big games.

Also if the fan base has always been their and regularly attended matches then why the need for the extra limits on tickets for the supporters club.

Its the same with Dundee United their average attendance is 8000 - 9000 yet when they played Barcelona there were massive queues around the block to get hold of tickets and they sold out within hours (14,xxx capacity). if these fans were true fans they would support their team on a regular basis instead of only going to watch them when playing a big international team.

Hmmm...i think we will have to agree to disagree on this one

aswell as the numbers issue, ticket touting being the obvious one

I was there and the majority were people from all over Scotland who wanted to see Barcelona and not necessarily support United :hehe:

No, I abandoned that bunch of OVERPAID SLU*S the day they have been able to lose the semi-final in Naples in 1990 against Argentina.

(note: italians in Naples were supporting Maradona since he was their hero)

Then, I had to see this "diving action" last year in order to beat the newbies SOCCEROOS that deserved much more than Italy to go ahead.

I have been eating pasta and "soccer" since I was 5 and I can tell in front of all my italians that Italy`s soccer SUCKS.

So, I`ll always support any other team , even Burkina Faso. :imho:

Oh...and then we don`t really want to talk about the dirty business and the financial scandals of that environment.

Being a taff I just want to say all the best to Scotland and hope they win, thay have done so well in the qualifers and do deserve to go through, unlike my lads who have had a sorry campaign this time round.

Good luck

I wish i could say the same about England but John Motson and co. make it unbearable for us Scots to support you guys, but i dont hate england for the record. i would however love a Scotland-England derby at Euro 2008 :hehe: A result like Wembley in '99 wouldn't go a miss either ;)

Just hope the national team can continue the feel good factor running through scottish sport. would be a great week if we can add euro 2008 qualification aswell as winning the commonwealth games for 2014

they have probably sent them at the last minute to try and stop touting. People tend to start selling them when they get confirmation they are getting tickets (some even try to sell them before they have even gone on sale)

John Motson is a tosser imo, it's about time he retired, no one is interested in his stupid facts and his unfunny jokes that only he laughs at!.

Anyway i am English and it is my duty to hope you fail miserably, seeing as we wont be there aswell.

:) ;)

i phoned them up and had a firey conversation with this woman from ticketmaster and after a while, we realised it was sent to the wrong address. I live at "53" but it was somehow sent to number "5" so i must have mistyped my address :red:

anyway, managed to get it just now :tu:

Being a Paddy with no hope of qualifying I will be cheering on the Scots.
Hopefully they will get the right result as they deserve to qualify.

In response to "I do not know any other small nation with support like that", just look across the water, my friend.
We did exactly the same in Paris 2 years ago

Should be a good day tomorrow, may the 17th continue to be a really unlucky number for the Italians.
