The sale of typo names like Trackr instead of Tracker, Jobb instead of Job and similar names, which are also in heavy demand and unavailable points to a trend (these are not real examples btw, but just indicative).

If people are buying typo names that are now considered brandable instead of a new GTLD or various other extensions available, I think that is a strong indication that .COM takes precedence even in typo, over the right keyword in other extensions.

Instead of taking Tracker.(something) people are going for Trackr.com. Definitely an indicator!

What's your thought!

A few years to late to spot this "trend"........

Yeah, this is just called coming up with a protectable brand name

You can't register "job" as a trademark for Job Search, but you can register the distinctve variant "jobb" with no rights on the word Job.

It's not so much a trend as is it people finding names that work within the accepted rules of the game that they have done for time immemorial.
