Hi all,

I have been busy hand registering domains (selected) and am enjoying my time learning domaining here on namepros.com.

Yesterday I was thinking, other than researching expired domains and auction sites, what routine activities do professional domainers (who are full time domainers) perform to sell their domains ("sell" is the main key word here)

So far, I have created accounts on domain marketplaces like SEDO, Afternic and Aftermarket and submitted my domains purchased so far. Now I am in a phase to upload a custom designed landing page with a contact form for buyer's inquiry.

Would love to hear how pros spend their day in making efforts to sell domain names.

Best,

Surprised to see not even a single response has been made here. Still look forward for pros input.

Could be that this is the wrong place for "full time" domainers. I am sure there are some but think about this..they prob are not reading the forums to see your question :)

Nice one mate, yup may be that's the reason.

Still, would really appreciate if someone would share their daily domain selling activities (the one that are best and effective).

I have recently started to buy domains and am pretty excited to practically start the selling process. Not that I don't know how to get started, it's just that I am looking for some refined information till date.

What's your domain niche?

Who is your attendant buyer audience?

What else do you offer besides a name and a free push to there account?

Have any of these domains been appraised here or elsewhere?

These are just a few questions you should consider before jumping into sales.

To answer your question I myself haven't sold a single domain on any of those sites you mentioned in years. Through lots of hard work I sell directly to companies/agency's and people who I have established a good relationship with and I can honestly say it didn't happen over night. I didn't quit my day job.

A dream without a plan is only a wish.
Good luck!

I'm not a professional domainer yet, but I would imagine that outbound marketing would be a necessity. Researching potential end users and either cold calling and/or emailing them. That is something I've always enjoyed doing, and I owe a lot of my successes elsewhere to that.

Welcome to NP.

Here's a good place to start:
https://www.namepros.com/forums/domain-beginners.25/
https://www.namepros.com/forums/legal-discussion.229/
https://www.namepros.com/threads/how-to-find-potential-end-users.68798/

Consider moving this thread to the beginners section, which could potentially derive more responses, as the very questions you ask here have been asked numerous times over the years. There is a ton of useful information in the beginners section, as well as the Legal section, among others.

Wishing you great success.

Very well said SirDrago. Appreciate your thoughts.

I have domains in niches like dentist, limo, and recently I have bought few domains in 3D, Drone, Wearables, and Prototyping niches.

Besides domains, I don't think there's any other service I am offering at this time, other than making sure every transaction goes smooth and of satisfactory for the client. What do you suggest though I should offer along with the domain name?

Appraisals??? I have read (and believe) that they don't actually support the sales process that much, the price of the domain is what the buyer is willing to pay (as I read so many times), but would appreciate your input on it.

Contacting buyers...Now that's the part I am trying to be solid at. Researching, shortlisting, and compiling a list of potential buyers are few things I know about but am looking to go through the process in-depth.

Other questions like:

- What metrics do you normally consider as you shortlist potential buyers for a certain domain?
- How should I start my email (by introducing myself, or to use selling tone instead?)
- What kind of email pitch normally works best, short or descriptive (descriptive with motivational theme)
- After how many days should I take followup?

These are few questions I am not yet confident about. Although I have came up with an email pitch but it exceeds more than 250 words (that's right 250+ WORDS). Then again, this pitch was created for Cloud and Drone related domain names, for dentist and small business related domains, I have pitches just over 100 words. Are these O.K. or should I reduce their size?

No one likes intelligent questions on forums - I would suggest a new posting format.

"I Heard Domaining is dead! WTF do you people do all day to sell? Does everyone just spam? or use Flippa?"

That gets more response in general.

Good Luck :)

So true, and loved it.

May be I should have thought of it earlier. lol
