Do you have the similar situation?
I did not do any changes with my domains parking in Bodis, but the revenue seems dropping too much.
Ps, I have 2 accounts there.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Who used to buy the traffic? Where did the click take the buyer if you do not know then didn't look. If using a service you only have what is offered. There is likely someone paying more for all sorts of traffic but need to have the market for it.

I moved the best performing domain to Above, so I am curious but don't expect too much.
Experiments finished, back to Bodis - still the best performing service for my traffic. Above (no maximizer) was making ~2/3 of what Bodis does. Not terrible, but...

I wonder how to get in direct contact with those who pay Bodis, i know that one of them is gogle but gogle itself is paid by end users companies who pay to advertise through gogle, I would prefer to skip all this 3rd party hands of Bodis and gogle, in this case we will have more revenue and know exactly what products are purchased and for how much.
Maybe one has to develop a website, where you can attract this end users to advertise through your domains?
In such case for those end users would be better to contact us and rent our domains to redirect to their businesses directly or buy our domains which may be related to their products.

No one's gonna talk to you unless you have shitloads of traffic. That's why Bodis works - all the parked domains aggregated seems like interesting enough exposure even for big advertisers.

Expect a decline in advertising revenue over the next few years.

Tech bubble has burst. Crypto too. Housing, in progress. Who knows what else.

This will go until inflation, recession and whatnot have passed and growth bubbles start again; then yeah revenue will start going up again.

Source: I've seen this a lot in history over the last 10 years and more, although not on Bodis but it's a common thing in the ad market.

Not gonna take years imo. These cycles are shorter and shorter. Generally agreed though.

Yes they are shorter, but it is gonna take a bit longer this time. The impact this time is deeper; many things have gone south lately; and it's not just a single market. It's a shift in almost every direction and a rewrite of everything.

Hopefully, not that bad decline though.

Edit: If ad revenue goes down, so are my domain sales as well... unfortunately.

I should better be a short trader or something in these times.

I have left my best earners only on Bodis and moved 90% of my names to Afternic. Has anyone tried Afternic parking or GoDaddy's Premium Parking? The latter has a small membership and you must have your names on GoDaddy.

You will not reach better performance rather ...
Moreover you can optimize switching between the different parking platforms but don't change the substance.
You have to think about something totally different for example affiliate banners into a minisite (I never tried it for lack of time).
Hotel expired domains that can be redirected to booking, for example.
Or something related, sport sites with gambling banner for example

I don't care about parking revenue much at this point. I just wanna pay the 15% commision to GD for sales and whatever comes in terms of PPC revenue is fine. My parking from now will be AN or GD Premium parking or NS3-4, NS5-6

You have a business model sales oriented.
I buy mainly domains whose purpose is parking.
Infact my revenues are 80% parking and 20% sales.

Thanks, Biggie . Have you tried Go Daddy Premium parking? You pay a few dollar membership, but you get 80% of earnings as they say.

For the GD premium parking, at least in the past suggested, GD had no ultimate control over the content of the ads. Some of my domains ended up on adult listings, and very inappropriately so. The final straw was when "fake doctor notes" were being advertised. After multiple phone calls complaining, and no action, I left them completely.

Note that I was not even getting any ad revenue. The extensive form that you had to agree to, in order to sign on to parking, was difficult to understand. There were terms I felt I could not agree to. So, I never signed, but nonetheless they did the "courtesy parking." Ultimately, it appears this has hurt the value of some of my domains.

Hopefully, they will be improving those matters. Bodis was a very pleasant change.

Hi

how did it hurt value of those names?

did you do a "before/after" appraisal or have some other comparable?

imo...

In terms of parking options, the adult classifications now limit my options for parking revenue. That's not a welcomed limitation. So yes, there is concern that the value from the standpoint of parking is now currently diminished.

My reference was not to the overall resale value of the domain. My inclination is to believe that some of those unwelcomed ads were not helping in encouraging buyer interest.

Hi

i appreciate your detailed explanation,
because as is, the quoted excerpt was a vague statement that could be interpreted differently by others.

question:
were the domains in question, deemed "adult" because of past usage or the actual terms within?
also, did those domains receive any ppc revenue at any time while you owned them?

on another note,
adult traffic can be monetized, it's just a matter of the actual domain names and finding a program/affiliate for them.

and... to me, ads on ppc pages are not there for buyers or to encourage buyers,
they are there for the general population who are searching the internet.

the link or banner on that page, (if any) is there for interested buyers of the domain name to make offer or BIN.

imo....

Thanks for the questions. I spent some time researching the answers.

It's unclear still why they were deemed adult. The one was a doctormalename.com and nursefemale name.com. There was no evidence of a previous porn or sex-related site prior to registering these domains several decades ago. Nonetheless, ad-parking may have found some value to the female name since an inexact version had been in a popular movie about four decades ago ("Debbie Does Dallas"?

The revenue from these was minimal for the one (less than $1) and none for the other. Granted, though, I did remove them from ad-parking completely after doing a brief trial letting Bodis try to generate some revenue.

adult traffic can be monetized, it's just a matter of the actual domain names and finding a program/affiliate for them.

You have an interesting point. This thread has been about revenue dropping with ad-parking in general, but it's possible those with the adult-classification might have a different potential. For now, though, it's an ad venue I prefer not to pursue.
