I thought this would be an interesting and worthwhile thread to start that compliments the "completed domain sales" thread.

"Developed" is the key word & difference.

We buy and sell domain names everyday, but much of those domains don't end up being used or developed by an end-user. I guess they just keep circulating: sold again, parked, dropped and registered again etc...

So I think when a domainer chooses a name that an end-user finds suitable to be developed or used for a brand; it should be something we strive for and even celebrate. When we sell a name.. shouldn't we want to know it will be put to good use..Well at-least the names you really put a high value on?

We may encourage and even help each other to buy/reg better names...And it may be fun.

When I visit sites like brand bucket and see names purchased that now represent real businesses; it's really exciting and encouraging(Even some of my own names). I personally want to do more than report completed domain sales(Oh I love that...don't get me wrong...I could use some sales right now lol) But, I believe domaining is much more than selling a name... it's the foundation of a business, the identity, a apart of the brand, and so on. I sure would love to have a portfolio full of domain name sales that represent actual business.

Anyway, lets get the party started!!!!

  1. List the name
  2. Year it sold
  3. what it is being used for

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Here is one that I undersold a few years ago. A well known domain name board ( not this one), said the name had no value.

Forex24.com
Nice name.. Sometimes you just have to go with your gut feeling..
End-users don't care about what's liquid or not.. or about appraisals.

They just care that that's the name they want for their brand. And that could throw all appraisals out the window.

Gobreeze.com, sold it about a yr or less ago. It's a pretty awsome business now. It's nice to see that is for sure.
Wow, amazing name! Hope you got a good deal/sale

I believe investors should be skeptical of five figure sales in new or alternative extensions when the domain is never developed into a real business. FYI it should not take more than 4-6 months to get something launched. If they were looking for a domain for a business, they already had plans on how to develop it.

Impressive! After a sale... this is the next best thing.
Portfolio-wise it may be even better than just having a sale.
