Updated: finally, $200 counter offer received, and the "potential buyer" insists this is the final offer. I decided to pass the offer and hold onto it for a while.
I edited the domain in this thread, thank you for all the kind helps I have received here. Merry XMas!~ :)

-------------

Hi, I have just received a price enquiry on my recent purchased domain edited(5 mins after I list this name on NP), this name was just pushed into my Godaddy from TDNAM expired domain BIN.

The email comes with yahoo.co.jp ext, and the previous owner of this domain uses this name for a restaurant in Japan. Thats why I am not sure if the email came from the previous owner? all from Japan, but as I purchased this name in TDNAM $5 expired domains, I assume the ex-owner still has rights to renew it before the name be successfully pushed into my account, actually, he/she didn't.

I am not sure how much "edited".info may worth, because I am not familiar with "edited", though there are many regions/places are named with "edited" all over the world. Also, I am not a .info fan, so I do have no much experience on selling regions name.info, would you guys give me some opinions what price range should I reply? (I assume and hope the potential buyer is not one of NPer :) )

almost 30 extensions are gone of this name.

.com/.net/.org/.biz/.co.uk/.org.uk/.de/.eu
.ru/.com.pl/.pl/.it/.fr/.es/.ch/.be/.sg/.jp/.co.in/.in
.cn/.tv/.mobi/.us/.ws/.cc/.nl/.co.nz/.com.mx

Thank you in advance.

Received a price enquiry by email directly. Ask me how much I want for this domain or the price range in mind.

thx domainer50

Ahh so i see. Well i think you should write back saying that nearly all other ext's are taken. Mention google rank, ovt etc. Im sure you could get xxx if it is a good name.

.

If he is selling it to an end user, or someone who owns the restaurant name Malabar or something like that. Its unlikely that the domain will increase in value. But holding is always an opiton

Thank you, domainer50 and gazzip, your opinions do help!

I would like to sell this name to a right end user, I may reply a high $xxx or low $xxxx price later, otherwise hold it.

Thank you for the help, mate.

That sounds like the right thing to do. Keep us updated on the possible sale.

You first need to insist that the buyer identify himself and who he represents.
DO NOT EVER negotiate with a stranger. Insist that the user use his real
business email address. Do NOT let him use a hotmail, yahoo, gmail
email address. Get his phone number.

I agree. Although i hope this was a given for owntype. But of course take the proper precautions.

..er and if you were the buyer? what would your advice be to the buyer?
....anyway the domain name is worth $50 if the seller is lucky...just sell it for that.

...Im guessing the name is worth a bit mroe than that, if someone took the initative to send an email to the current owner. If the buyer has a problem with providing his personal info then its a bogus deal anyway.

can't agree, could be just a speculative punter...and if I was a rep for a large corp I would sure hide that info from a domain seller. when playing cards you don't show your hand to the other side.

I wouldn't provide any info until after the money was on it's way for payment. People try to stay anonymous to get good deals. I've sold tons of domains and after the fact I realize it was a big company or someone with real deep wallets and I could have gotten them for more. Just put up a price you're willing to part with it for. It's all about luck if you can't tell who he is from the email address.

If a big company wanted to buy a name from you, it would be easy to hide their identity. They could easily hire a person to negitate teh sale and appear as a newbie.

Don't confuse deep pockets for willingness to pay a lot. The value of a domain to a multibillion dollar corporation is only what it can contribute to the bottom line. The truth is, Marriott or Hilton have less to gain from hotels.xx than a small travel agency would.

It always pays to know who you are negotiating with. But you have to be careful about what you assume about their willingness to pay. Your best bet is to focus on the domain's ability to generate value for the buyer, either through resale, through traffic, or organically. Most sucessful people and businesses get that way by being smart, not by overpaying.

Thank you guys, just an update, I replied with $800, and the buyer has just emailed me with $200 counter offer and insisted this is the final offer.

I decide to pass and hold onto it for 1 - 2 years, personally, I believe it worth 2 - 4x more than that, but I could be wrong :)

Thanks again guys for the kind help.

Good move as long as you're not itching for some cash :) It is obvious the word is used for a variety of things and with the .info it can be used in any part of the world...unlike most the other extensions that have been taken.

Hmmm...I seem to remember there was a pub in Bermuda called Malabar about 12 years ago, found the link HMS Malabar http://bermuda-online.org/rnd2.htm
