As mentioned many times by Equity78, there are very few buyers within our ranks that are purchasing from the .tv marketplace. However when you see some of the stuff that is touted in the 'best hand reg of the day' thread it makes you scratch your head and ask "WTF"!
I am not having a go at anyone here or any recent reg's, this has been going on for a long time now.

It is mindboggling to see $20 thrown down the toilet when there are numerous very nice domains available for a $60 sedo bid or even less! I don't have a clue why these are not being snapped up, especially by the newer members. Is there some glory in hand regging or reg from the daily drop list no matter what it is? Is there some thought that if a domain is being let go by another member that it must be crap?

I would also be interested to know if any of the visitors to the forum have actually purchased. Can any members confirm that they had a direct sale to a visitor to the forum rather than a member?

I'm spend long enough in domain name business. I prefer to buy premium nice domain in .TV instead of having hundreds of not so great .TV. Advertising is a key for your domain name, if this comes natural then premium price is cheap. Cheap to me is less than $1500 /year.

Just my humble opinion.

All of those interested and seeing the potential in dottv NEED to search here first. My best one word non premium names came from here, for a great prices. Search a little and you may just find some gems :)

Agree 100 percent len

Reminds me when I first came on the board lol.

After they spend a few hundred or few thousand bucks they will realize oh shit what did I do.

I tried helping couple people out and told them take it easy and told them my experiences via PM and got blown off or say something like I know what I am doing lol. Will all catch up to them especially now with economy and etc.

Oh well.

As far as other questions I can't say for sure. I have received maybe 8 private emails but on some names I own over the past few months.

Your right. There are some nice names being offered cheaply. I'm not a buyer and build cash up

All it takes is one solid name with a development attached to it and get ball rolling.

I couldn't agree more. Of course I am a bit biased since I am selling some really great names for less than $60 that I feel is much better then some of the recent hand reges. But I do feel I have some knowledge of this market and in my opinion names that a lot of people are selling on this board are better then some hand reges.

I agree with you LEN, seeing daily regs of .tv's non-premium and premium that are (imo) crap.
Right now im more into development of .tv and not into the actual selling anymore, however because im in the need of some $ i put up one of my dictionary .tvs forsale.

I think the BIN is pretty low for this decent one word dictionary, normal regfee .tv domain name, this name just screams to be developed...

I do not understand why people are paying Premium fees for a name like idontwhat.tv, or paying regfee for the real left overs while with a little investment you can get a real nice decent name here.

I agree with you Len 100%

One factor that may be playing a role here is ego. I think often times people go over to Godaddy and start typing in names. When that pretty little available message appears with the big bold check mark something clicks inside the buyers head. Perhaps the buyer is thinking that he or she was lucky and/or witty to find such a name available.

I would guess that Godaddy has studied exactly what type of message to display when a domain is available. Buying a domain in the marketplace here is often smarter but not as exciting. IMO.

This is soooo true! I just had a look at that thread & am really shocked at many of the names that have been registered D-:

Sometimes it is really worth looking at the names offered in the aftermarket rather than just trying to hand reg a name just because you don't want to have anyone else to have owned that name previously.

It is a mindset, many do not want to buy from someone else when they can register something for less. This premise takes place in many businesses much to the benefit of the buyer's wallet. Plus what one person sees as nice might not be what others see. I prefer not to buy off of individuals as they rarely have what I want. I either approach the company or find a suitable name I can register myself as it saves money in the long run.

To make this phenomenon even more interesting, many will offer appraisals on domains saying they're worth hundreds and sometimes thousands, but then won't buy the same domain in the marketplace for $25 when it's later listed.

I agree with your point, I had hand registered one name and tried getting appraisals over here but with no success. Later on I let it drop, thinking that this name has no value or any interest whatsoever. Immediately after it was dropped one big company registered that name and sadly enuf within few days of the drop one end user approached me with intent to buy that name.

I believe, it's all in the perspective of an individual. To some a particular name might not make any sense at all but for others it might turn out to be a good investment with a really good ROI.

EndUser / EndBuyer might see it differently than Domainer. Both has different perspective of the same name.

You make an excellent point. I think part of it comes from what I posted previously. I would also consider the possibility that a name doesn't fit the model or niche of that specific buyer. Lets say I was looking for names involving selling fitness tapes. If someone had an awesome stock trading name, I wouldn't be interested even though it has potential. Lastly I think appraisals are worthless.

I feel especially with .tv owners, we look for what fits our model or niche as compared to just overall quality that can be sold at a later date. Especially since flipping .tv's is nothing like it is with .com's.

Agreed. Most of the appraisals I've seen lately are completely worthless as are the domains being appraised.

I understand your point of .tv owners having a certain niche and not being interested in domains outside of that. I am concerned with the newcomer's who seem to be regging all sorts of stuff, 3 & 4 worders, 4 letter domains that mean nothing, dictionary words that have very few searches etc.

These to me as a domainer are never going to be profitable. Even if some of these were to be developed they would have to spend thousands in SEO and advertising to have 50/50 chance of being successful!

My view is that some of the domains in the marketplace that are for sale by 'Seasoned' members are of excellent quality. These are available in many cases because these members have found their 'Niche' and these domains don't fall into that category. This does not mean they are worthless!

I have listed decent domains with 8-9mths reg left for offers begining at $10 and got no replies???

If I was just starting in the .tv game I would certainly be snatching some of these up. The buyers are around, just puzzles me why they are not on here, many domains that are sent to sedo for $60 bid sell for more once there.
