Is there a probability of grabbing a 6 letter .com domain with .net and .org already registered?

This domain is about to drop (2nd drop) in a week or so, it dropped a year ago too when no other TLD was registered at that time, I was quite dumb to not grab it, expecting that no one would ever want it and after 2 months it was registered

Then someone else registered the .org, I got afraid and got the .net

I have an emotional attachment with this domain and I plan to use it a future project, I've been watching it for more than 2 years

I'm really afraid of losing it again

I don't know if domain hoarder bots usually target these domains, as other TLD are registered and it gets flagged
    I need this really bad

I want to stay low profile and register it as fast as I can after dropping, with some backorder service

I don't know if I have a change if I do it manually, I use Namecheap as main registar
I need some guidance from someone experient in this sort of situation

You should use a service like Namejet or Dropcatch to backorder the domain. It might cost you a little more but if you really want the domain, these are good options to have a reasonably high confidence in acquiring the domain. Each of them has a different mechanism of transferring ownership of the domain to you.

Please also remember that if there are multiple backorders for the domain, it will go into auction and you might have to bid to get the domain

    Is this somewhat private?

No one is going to backorder and bid, just because I've backorder it?

Maybe, maybe not. There is no way to predict that. Services do show if there are any bids for the domain and who bid (their username/nickname) but not necessarily who you are

It's not a matter of hiding my identity, but the fact domain gets flagged and someone is going to backorder just because I backedorder too

I don't want any sort of public auction competition, I want to avoid it as much as possible

Someone please explain me this backorder and auction stuff

If I backorder from one registar can anyone register or backorder faster than me if he uses another registar and there is no private auction between the 2?

Yes both are possible.. But they are your best options to secure the domain. If someone else backorders the domain via a different provider, it is possible, either might win the backorder and get the domain. To be even more certain, you might want to backorder from multiple backordering services. You only get charged if the backorder succeeds

But ther's still something that it's really intriging me

DropCatch is part of Hugedomains domain squater company, they are 1 of the strongest player in drop catch

For example, Hugedomains could have a rule to register every single .com in which .net and/or .org are already register, IF there is only 1 backorder set into Dropcatch because this wouldn't allow the domain to get into public auction, because they aren't making any more money throught bidding competion, Hugedomain would override Dropcatch, put an absurd price on top of it and I virtually would never have a chance to get it

I'm afraid of going into a backorder service that it's afiliated with domain squating companies, and flag it

I would like to hear some real life expirience if it actually confirms this

There are many .com unregistered even though the same string is taken in .net/.org. That doesn't mean the .com should be valuable or could sell. Since it's a 6-letter domain it could be desirable by virtue of being brandable. That depends.

Give me examples then, no hypens no numbers

The fact is it only costs them a few $ to register any .com, any general massive investment onto this would always guarantee them certain profits

    I don't believe this crap :'(

    I backordered in Pheenix
Dropcatch got it, and now it's linking to Hugedomains on their page

This domain was available last year, I don't understand this, it's not even an highly search keyword, far from that
I never typed the domain in one of their sites...

This is insane, how do they even know what domains to grab?

Probably no human ever backorded the domain besides me
I won't have this domain in years now

Within DropCatch backorders, our users have first priority. If you are the only person to place a backorder on the domain name within DropCatch, the backorder will be delivered to you! Our bulk partners are not allowed to place regular backorders, ensuring our customers always have top priority on regular backorders!

If you have additional questions about the priority of captured domains, I am happy to provide additional explanation. You can reach us through the Contact us, or reach out to us here! We are happy to answer any questions!

No one is out to get you... The advice you got from @anantj was solid. If you really want a domain, you should place backorders with many services to give you a high probability of getting it. DropCatch, SnapNames, and NameJet are the three best. Pheenix is pretty slow, and will typically not beat out these other dropcatching services.

As explained by @DropCatch Support, users get priority when it comes to dropping names. If you're worried about tipping other domainers off to a nice domain, your best bet is to wait until just a few minutes before the drop to place your backorder.

DropCatch backorders are completely private, so no one knows who has placed a backorder on a domain name, or if any exist. We think keeping the backorders private is important for just this reason. We never publish backorders placed or share information, not even after the drop!
