Hello forum,

I currently have a $1,000 offer on Sedo. In your opinion, should I counter (and if so, how much?), hold, or sell?

Some things to consider: "Pregnancy" is a highly searched topic on the internet.

The term "Pregnancy" was searched 474,674 times in January according to Overture's Keyword Selector Tool (Yahoo's search network).

Please note that the above referenced total do not include Google searches.

Interesting side note: Amazon.com returns 103,690 results when searching for "Pregnancy" books.

Lastly, Pregnancy.tv is registered at GoDaddy.com and the renewal fee is only $34.99 per year.

Sincerely,

-DJ

I would sell. Not many uses for pregnancy and tv though. But since it is end user probably. Try to counter with 1,800. and if he says 1000 again - accept and goto auction.

I'd put it on auction and consider $1,000 a nice sale if it doesnt go for more.

Jedi, while 1K is a nice first offer the domain is worth much more, imo. What you need to be careful about is the amount of buyers lurking around the corner TODAY and your ability to hold onto the domain. We have all heard of "this maybe the best offer you will ever get" and this really applies to this stage of evolution in .TV

My personal opinion is the domain is in the 7K+ region at this time. It has huge application and is sitting on basic reg fee which is a huge savings to the buyer giving the domain more value. Pregnancy, if you have kids you would know, is a big ordeal and men and women alike flock to try and understand the stages and research on the internet.

If you want to sell be careful not to get too gready. On the flip side, it only cost you like $350 to hold it for ten years and in that time for sure a better offer will come along:)

Current value seems like $1000 min but okay if you are motivated to sell and don't have any plans to develop. Future value might be higher depending on name recognition for .tv?

Will you kick yourself if you loose this buyer or will you kick yourself if you don't own this name in five years?

I fully agree with SKG, this is a great one word, hold on if you can, no doubt you will get other & higher offers. Good luck with it.

Uhm, as much as I support the .tv extension I would sell. I've spent less on a .tv name and have gotten more. No need to be greedy. Sell the damn thing and by a better name that you can actually make residual income from. The word just doesn't really fit the extension in my opinion. Nontheless, I which you a nice pay day. If you decide to sell, definitely bring it to auction.

Pretty much, it depends upon your financial situation. If 1K right now is going to pay a credit card down or buy some electricity for a few months, then 1K sounds like a great deal. If you don't have any expenses looming in the near future, I think that the demand for .tv is going to increase over this year or two a significant amount.

well he has had a couple of nice .mobi sales recently, so hopefully this isn't the case :$: ...

however, i'd sell or atleast send to auction at that price, but that's just me.

I appreciate all of the feedback I have received!

What is interesting is that yesterday I countered with $6,000 and the buyer cancelled negotiations. Being that I am in no rush to sell this domain, I didn't think much of it. However, when I checked my email this morning, another offer has been extended for $1,250.

I might consider sending this domain to auction however, the auction would end at an odd time (4:00 am EST).

tlc has a show called a baby story, one if iVillages header topics is pregnancy and parenting- i personally would never sell for 1000- as a woman i can tell you that CAN be developed and be a highly used site-

If you have no plans on developing, you should sell. If it was a reg fee registration, you have a nice profit & could use the cash towards development or after market purchases.

ROI is nice I would sell just to re-invest in more .tv names personally. Is it just me, but didnt you just register this name? If so sell it and move on to the next. If you are rich and can afford it then you may reconsider. I would sell while the hype to .tv is growing.

Hi,

I was the one who placed the original $1,000 bid on Sedo to start this off, at the time i felt $1,000 was a good price but once you countered with something like $7,000 then my interest is over. Maybe if you had countered with something reasonable like $3,000 then i would of came to some kind of arrangement between that but i guess its your prerogative as the buyer to say how much you want & to try get best price.

I like the name, would make a great developed site with so many markets coming from Pregnancy but im not interested in getting involved in auctions or placing bid after bid for .tv's right now when there is so many around.

Best of Luck with your Auction, i really hope buyer develops it.

As a seller, I can appreciate when buyers are willing to put up their best offer. It certainly saves a lot of time.

Also, Sedo's system does make negotiating somewhat difficult.

Yeah i agree with you that Sedo does make it hard to negotitate, im not a fan of buying names through Sedo but sometimes you are forced to as there is so many names listed there.

Pregnancy.tv is a great name. I dropped birthcontrol_dot_tv a while ago. No time to develop it :(

Sedo's bidding system is retarded. They restrict the buyer and seller from talking to each other so it is much easier to be nasty to each other.

I have my domains listed there but most of my domains land on my retail sales page so if a potential bidders types one in, he/she lands right on the page with similar keyword domains and prices.

Sedo could double their sell through rate if they opened up the bidding process a little.

Also, how about letting the bidder see all the domains I have listed at sedo so they can make a package deal offer.

Sedo is losing sales with their terrible bidding and search system.
