Porkbun has a marketplace but not a great (or even a good) one.
Only payout is via paypal.
Ok we don't want paypal payout, money can stay there for registrations or
renewals (do they allow it?).

When you try to list a domain they want sms verification.
Why sms verification. They can do email verification instead.
I think sms doesn't work internationally, or on all phones.
If someone has ability to send sms message, they can also send
*ware which would install something without your knowledge.
Also they can sell verified phone number to others (theoretically).

Selling is difficult, buying is easy. I mean, sellers can't commit fraud,
buyers can, by using someone else's card. Buyers are people who are making a payment,
and can theoretically dispute a charge.
Sellers probably won't list a domain and after selling it
complain about that sale.

When purchasing via card, we get sms, but
our bank sends the sms, not Porkbun.

Why sell at Porkbun if it is bad: because it is the only place to
sell handshake domains registered there. No marketplace
would accept them at this time.
Also instant transfer is always the best. And we don't want buyers to have
our info just to pay for the domain they are pretending to buy.

No other registrar marketplace has such a stupid requirement
on seller side.
I can own a number, and not actively use it, and still use
it as an input if needed to register something somewhere.
Not all numbers work on all phones, not all countries get sms,
lots of problems can exist with sms verification between registrar and user.
If it was a good thing, everyone would do it.
Plus I could get fake sms number, use it as phone number,
make the verification and list the domain.

Porkbun is not making things more secure, just making
them more complicated for normal people, and not more difficult for fraudsters
(and sellers can't easily be cheaters, this is why payment is made first, when
a domain is sold at a marketplace, buyers change their minds or complain about things , not sellers).

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Their brand pornbun.com sucks as well.

Not a Kosher/Halal name, but still a good registrar. I'm complaining about their marketplace only.
And it didn't have to exist either. I mean, better than nothing, but they are not doing themselves a favor with
this stupid sms verification requirement.

I don't know about handshake domains but I've got a couple dozen names with porkbun and they are all listed for sale. It was super easy to list them, from my domain list, I just click on a field and enter a price. Changing nameservers is also insanely easy.

I've yet to have an SMS from them for any domain being listed (I just listed a couple last week). I do receive e-mails each time I log into my account which I don't like but Namecheap does those too. I'm located in the U.S. so maybe it's different for different countries?

I haven't read all of the T&Cs for Porkbun's marketplace but I am surprised to hear sellers have to eat the cost of a chargeback. That's usually covered under a marketplace's commission.

Edit: From the buyer side, I don't like Porkbun's marketplace. I wish these guys would copy what works from each others marketplaces to improve them.

I'm in the US too and don't receive texts when listing etc. For the record, you can turn off the successful login emails in your account settings at PorkBun. You can select to be notified of successful logins, failed login attempts or turn them off completely if I recall correctly.
