For the text to fit on a single line within that element.

In the future, we will likely change the font size dynamically to avoid that issue, which is what we already do to usernames and user titles (in posts) that are too long. We can apply that same solution to usernames in the sidebar.

What about making the avatars a tad bigger so we can fit the reply count on the next line? There's already almost enough room for an additional line. Example, without any adjustments to the avatar size:
