Political campaign names question

When looking at options for certain 2008 presidential race domain names, there are several options for each team of runners for the office. I'd like to know which are most popular. Is this one area where a .org actually more valuable than a .com? Do the official campaign organizations prefer the .org? Does the .US have value? is it better to not add an 08 or a 2008 after the names? Does anyone know the answer to this based upon the last election?

Here are some examples for a fictional Smith and Jones:

SmithJones.com
SmithJones.org
SmithJones.us
Smith-Jones.com
SmithJones08.com
SmithJones08.org
SmithJones08.us
SmithJones2008.com
SmithJones2008.org
SmithJones2008.us

I think this could be a valuable discussion and I hope some of you chime in with your opinions, and particularly any facts based upon history.

If you have the money, buy em all :)
If i wanted to find something about the upcoming election, I'd type in SmithJones08.com first above the rest. Also, if purchasing a lot, do JonesSmith aswell.

I'd pick up as many as you could - in most cases I'd buy up both the .com and the .org as well as the .us. I think we're going to see a lot of politicians diving for the patriotic line and what better way to show that than by having a .us domain?

I understand the problem of moderate republicans not winning the primary, but I think that this time there's a very good chance because I think many republicans are sick of the ultra right controlling the primaries, and fully understand that a moderate Republican with stature, like McCain, who is also liked by moderate democrats, is the only one who can beat Hillary. And Hillary is most definitely the democratic candidate.

I think reasonable people on both sides are sick of all the fighting, and are looking for something more in the middle.

Sorry I threw my own topic off-topic. I guess we should get back on subject.

Not getting political ( ;) ), but the best would just be the two candidates last names

(Like BushCheney.com )

and the Presidential Candidates first name

(Like GeorgeBush.com )

:imho:

Years are great, but I'd still take the names without the years first.

I tend to agree with you on this.

But, aren't some/many campaign websites actually .org's? Or am I just imagining that???

I would get as many of these as possible, with all the variations, if I had the money, but if I had to choose, I would go with: (with the example of Bush - Cheny)

BushCheny.com
BushCheny08.com
BushCheny2008.com
Bush-Cheny.com

Of course it's a good idea to grab as many as possible but if I had to decide for the best I'd take SmithJones08.com and SmithJones.com. I even like the one with the 08 more because in the past I seem to remember that the year was an intrinsic part of the official campaign slogans ("vote x, y in 04" or something). If a campaign heavily focused on mentioning the year all the time I wouldn't be surprised if the former actually got more type-in traffic than the latter.
