The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
its just that on this page alone there is moron, prick and shit.... which, i mean, directed at another person, which they were, is abusive language to say the least....

You've got to take the side of the namepros community really....

This thread has just hit 100 posts.... and about 25% of them are complete rubbish...

I have apologised to Matrix by PM about the swearing and "petty" name calling.

But i will do it publicly here. :-

I John (jf2404) apologise to anyone that i have offended, by either calling them names or to anyone who has read the posts and been offended.

I still say the traffic might be real and it might be fake, but i swear (not in an offensive manner) that i have not sent/bought any traffic to boost sales.

If Matrix does go ahead any buy the name (to prove i'm fake he said), i do not know if it's real or not ,so i would gladly pay him back 25% of what he pays, if it is fake. (he would keep the name and i keep the 75%).

Legally he has bid and should pay, and legally i do not have to refund the whole price, but if he did pay and it is fake i will do the above for him.

Thanks for everyones input.

But i guess youre using escrow, no??

Therefore, iam sure he has a period of review (with escrow) during which you will have had to have transfered the name already. In this 'review' he will have full control over the name and will be able to quantify and clarify the traffic.

The money will be with escrow at this point and if he is not happy for whatever reason, he can ask for the money to be returned. He will have to have good reason for this and escrow will enter into mediation. My guess is though that if he claims to have bought something which is, for want of a better word, "not what it says on the tin", he will be refunded, you get the name back and you are still liable for the fee..

Interesting juncture, dont you think??

Well it's going through afternic's escrow (if he does pay), and their fee and escrow fee are taken from the final price i would get, so if he does return it/ cancel it then no fees will be due.Well shouldn't be anyway.

My mistake.... RE: AFTERNIC ESCROW

Hi Ian, As soon as you receive the domain name, we will pay the seller, so under the basis of "false description" although it is highly discouraged that such false statements be made in the listings, we can not 100% ensure the accuracy and thus we can not back-up the statements made.

In other words, if the seller meets the obligations of transferring the name, they will be paid, and you would have received the name. For this reason, we do suggest a research appraisal of the name to further inform you of the quality of the domain name. I hope this information assists you. Please let me know if I can assist you further.

So, unlike the 'real' Escrow, DNescrow (courtesy of Afternic) release the cash immediately.. Hmmmm.

That doesn't sound like a good deal. I would use escrow.com. They give X number of days to review whatever it is you're buying so you can make sure you're not being ripped off. The escrow "service" offered by afternic seems like a joke. Notice he tries to get more :$: out of you by offering their apprasial service  The quality of the domain name is not in question, it's the traffic that's the center of the debate.

Coz they just want their cut don't they. It's like me saying do you want 10% from what i get for my domain or do you want nothing ? you choose. Ofcourse there are gonna take the 10% (eventhough i don't think they do much to reward getting 10%).

I am doing it through afternic
1. my domain was already listed with them
2 they only charge the 10% instead of 10% for the sale and then a % for the escrow.

3. for some reason escrow.com need me to give them a aba routing number /swift code or something like that. I've asked my bank (lloyds tsb) and they dunno what the code is, least with afternic they pay me by paypal which is easier.

Anyway Matrix still hasn't said if he is gonna pay, just gotta wait and see.

Very true, but don't worry, if Matrix does pay he still has a way out, no matter what afternic might suggest.

Afternic have confirmed to me that this domain is getting (quote) misleading traffic (End quote)

and

that the clicks generated by this domain ''DO NOT'' correspond to what the seller is declaring....

bogus sale....

I'm sure he's been banned already. After I was a victim of a scam winning bid for my domain name www.cellular.jp AfterNIC banned that user for life.

Oh...yeah, that would be nice. This place appears to be filled with honorable members. It would be a shame to let this scammer like that mingle with the rest of us (wow, that sounds so cliquey but hey: a scammer is a scammer.)

I can't see why he isn't. Mostly anyone knowing the industry can see this is just a poor scam attempt. By some posts it is indicated that it's not his first time as well. Even the most naive must believe that someone so resistant to providing any real information when accused of a scam, has something to hide.

Woah, what a long thread. But anyone who read this thread sure learn how to identify a domain scammer! Though there are alot of obscene comments, but I still find it very interesting to read on. I was also glad that Matrix did check out the incident with afternic before paying jf2404 the money for the domain. Personally, I don't find it worth the $$ to risk. Spending $800 just to report him a scammer? We don't need that. Anyone who knows how domain business works, can see that the traffic is false. And with his persistant refusal to check out the traffic, that makes it even way more doubtful. It is very not wise for you (Matrix) to put your $800 on jeopardy or even gone to a scammer, not worth it. And amcry, from what i read about your scam, what happened with your cellular.jp? Purely out of curiosity. It looks like a neat domain to me.

I'm still holding it and will continue to hold it until the right buyer comes along. I think it's a real winner.

AFTERNIC RESPONSE

First, I want to thank everyone here that sent us messages regarding this domain. We looked at the traffic history and the name was receiving anywhere between 2 to 42 visits a day for about 9 days. Then, the traffic spiked to about 555 visits the next day and traffic continued to remain inflated until the first of December. Shortly after, it fell to around 7 visits and since then the name has not exceeded 10 visits any day. Since 30 days of data were not available, our site predicted how much traffic the name might receive for the month given the available data.

We warned the buyer that the traffic might be fake and did not hold them to the sale. Remember, we post a traffic disclaimer and cannot verify traffic. If someone buys targetted traffic or uses redirects, our stats will be inflated. You should do your research with Alexa, Google, the way back machine, and Overture before buying a name for it's traffic. If it looks too good to be true, it probably is!

AFTERNIC RESPONSE (another one)
Thank you for your email/inquiry. We have looked further into this domain's
traffic and we have noticed an odd traffic pattern as well. I have hidden
the traffic information at this time and please note the name is currently
not for sale.

Sorry to hear about all this. I didn't see this before so I couldn't congratulate Colleri for finding that out but now I can I guess.

jf2404, if you were really sorry you'd pay everything back to him.

Why hasn't he been banned yet?

And Matrix, WHY DID YOU GIVE HIM $800 TO PROVE HE'S A SCAMMER????? YOU JUST WASTED $800!!!!!!!

Please DON'T close the thread, this thread was an interesting read....
