Use the "exact searches" checkbox - that would be more accurate.
Also comparing trends at http://www.google.com/trends with something you know about also does the trick. For example I know for a fact, that "phentermine" is searched about 1000 times a day in US, so normally I compare everything to it.

Thanks a lot, yetme. The information you have shared with me is precious and has been of a great help. I didn't know about Google Trends or that I needed to check on "exact searches" on Google Adwords Keywords Tool. The results there changed dramatically when I checked on "Exact". I think I need to keep my search for better domain names than these. Thanks again, yetme :)

Thanks for sharing the link with so great information, silentg. I really appreciate it! I have a question related to that. I hope you can help me understand what they say, since I'm new in this domain names business. The text says:

"Names to avoid: Trademarks"

and then they put this:

"L = Letter Ex. LLL.com (ASP.com)
NL = Number & Letter Ex. NLL.com (9GG.com)
N = Number Ex. NNN.com (999.com)"

My question is, when they say we have to avoid Trademarks names do they mean we also should avoid names like ASP.com, 9GG.com and 999.com? or the avoidance only was referring to trademark names?

Another question is about this part of the list:

"Dropped or Expired Domain Search:
Dropday.com
ZFbot.com"

Is it advisable to look for domain names from those websites?

Thanks a lot for your help, silentg. It's always great to learn from experienced people like you.

Those are names you should consider to invest in if you got money. They locked the thread so I can't edit it.

Oh, OK. Thanks for clarifying, silentg. It's good you also included the links of the websites where we can find trademarks:

"Trademarks Search:
Trademarkia.com
tess2.uspto.gov"

so we can make sure we don't get any of the names listed there. Great information! Thank you so much :)
