2267.mobi on cellular phonepad stands for Cams.mobi (C = 2, A = 2, M = 6, S = 7). The latter recently sold for around $24 thousand, as reported here:

http://www.namepros.com/dot-mobi/252016-recently-sold-dotmobi-domain-names.html#post1543253

2267.mobi is a numeric clone for Cams.mobi, so to say.

Addition: Some of recent numeric .mobi sales (so-called vanity domains) are listed here:

http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=163715

369.mobi sold for $3,200
188.mobi for $625
399.mobi for $340
7777.mobi for $310

Comment... it seems some people do not understand the value of numeric domains (a.k.a. vanity domains). People DO NOT intend to type in numbers on their cell phonepads. They TYPE IN the LETTERS that they SEE on the phonepads' digit keys. E.g., in case of Sex.mobi, they would type in letters S E X, from their PHONEPAD and NOT from keyboard, as cell phones do NOT have keyboards in most cases. So, de jure they would type the letters, and de facto they would type in the digits.

There are hundreds of millions cell phones in the world.

In case of Cams.mobi the digits (on cell phonepads) are 2 (=C) 2 (=A) 6 (=M) 7 (=S). That is what domain 2267.mobi is all about.

Hmmm.. well good luck with it.. I'd have never figured 2267 had any connection to CAMS, sorry... It could just as easily mean any of the other N=L designations as well.

There is no L in "Cams". ;) Why do you think it means one of N=L designations?

"Cams" is plural from "cam", it means "web cameras" or simply "cameras", and Cams.mobi was probably sold as a domain for web cameras or a site intended to sell cameras online. So I picked its phonepad numeric equivalent, which is 2267.mobi.

Compare with www.Cams.com. Google search for "www.cams.com" (quoted) returns about 184,000 results. It looks like it is more popular than www.cameras.com (about 19 thousand results) or www.webcams.com (about 44 thousand results) or www.webcam.com (about 12 thousand result).

Anthony -

I gotta be honest with you, I just dont see this one. I think its just too much of a stretch. The question is, even with mobile content, will people use the domain name on there phone that spells out cams? Is viewing adult content on cell phones that popular? More and more it appears to me that the broadband portable devices are more and more capable of accessing mainstream sites, Im pretty sure they would just go to cams.com if thats what they wanted. Im sorry but I dont see the value in this name. I have been wrong before, but you asked, so you got it.

Perhaps you are wrong. Cell phones use broadband access, so if equipped with video cameras, they ARE quite often used to see video streams of any nature.

By the way, why do you believe the intent of this site would be to provide ADULT content? It is just a coincidence that Cams.com provides adult web streams, but it is not necessary that Cams.mobi or 2267.mobi (phone pad equivalent) should also provide adult content.

Please advise. Thanks in advance.

Of course there's no L in cams.. L = Letter and N = Number..

And there is absolutely no comparison between this domain and Cams.com.. 2267 could just as easily stand for "bans" as "cams"... it needs branding and as such is worth a bit over reg fee IMO.

I came to that conclusion, partly because of you. You said it stood for cams and in most cases, TLD's will follow suit of the .com - If .com is adult content, so will most likley be .net (as it just sold, we shall see, but i bet!) and considering cams is becomming a HUGE niche in the adult industry. Its that famous quote, "why do you rob banks, because thats where the money is". So that is why I came to the conclusion.

And although .mobi domains are selling as of current, I havnt heard of any being successful as cell phone content providers? I have yet to visit a .mobi - I am sorry if you did not like my appraisal or my opinion. But you asked the question and I did my best to answer it.

Are you always criticizing domains like that, Mr. Gridley? ;)

Let me repeat, 2267.mobi = Cams.mobi on cellular phonepad. It is a numeric .mobi domain, aka vanity .mobi domain.

I imagine dgridley saying about domain 739.mobi (stands for Sex.mobi) ;):

"And there is absolutely no comparison between this domain and Sex.com... 739 could just as easily stand for "rex" (T-rex) as "sex"... it needs branding and as such is worth a bit over reg fee IMO." LOL :hehe:

FYI, some of recent numeric .mobi sales are listed here:

http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=163715

As you can see, 369.mobi sold for $3,200, 188.mobi for $625, 399.mobi for $340, and 7777.mobi for $310.

I need more appraisals for my domain guys. Thanks in advance.

Do you mean you haven't heard about numeric .mobi's having been sold? See the link right above the quotation.

739 could just as easily stand for Rex as sex, yes.. and it would need just as much branding as your domain before people would know any different.. as far as I'm concerned, no one, and I mean, no one, would intuitively discern that 2267 means cams without you first taking the time to brand the domain.

As foir the prices for the other domains, 7777 would sell in any ext because of the repeating digits... different people buy for different reasons.

I've given my appraisal and I stick by it..

No, that is not what I said. Kindly re-read my post.

The .mobi's you are comparing yours to are 3N's (and 1 4N). 3 Number domains are often easy to recall and can be used and branded much like area codes. 7777 obviously being the exception to the rule is also easy to recall and brand.

I understand your concept behind the name, and your sales pitch. What I had insinuated in my post is that .mobi's are selling, but how many of them are finding an end-user? It seems to me a lot of .mobi's are being sold on speculation and are not actually being developed. Now, you can debate this point, but my question is - Does anyone actually visit a .mobi site on their cell phone? I dont know a person who does or has.....

Pushing beyond that - I dont see why someone wouldnt then just type in cams.mobi instead of dialing the keypad numbers? Im sorry, I just dont see it.

Well, it seems you DON'T understand the situation with numeric domains.

People DO NOT intend to type in numbers on their cell phonepads. They type in the LETTERS that they see on the phonepads' digit keys. In case of Sex.mobi, they would type in letters S E X, from their PHONEPAD and NOT from keyboard, as cell phones do NOT have keyboards. So, de facto they would type in the digits, as, again, cell phones do not have keyboards (except for some models), they have solely phonepads.

And, in case of Sex.mobi numeric clone those digits are 7 3 9, and in case of Cams.mobi the digits are 2 2 6 7. That is what domain 2267.mobi (numeric for Cams.mobi) is all about. See my postings above.

Surprisngly, I've seen no one else come to your defense in this matter, Anthony.. best of luck in your endeavors. I hope you make millions with this domain and prove me wrong...

I guess it is because people do not yet fully understand the value of numeric domains.

No, they don't... let me reiterate: there are hundreds of millions cell phones in the world, also as other mobile devices, yet many of them capable of web browsing and with good bandwidth. You get the point, guys. Perhaps you can reappraise this domain as well as 739.mobi (numeric for Sex.mobi). Thanks.

Where are all the .mobi supporters? Why not get a Hostway rep over here to explain exactly why we should all fall head over heels in love with vanity domains.. it's a marketing ploy. Nothing else.

If the domain is so intuitive, why did you feel the need to explain 2267 means "cams" in your title? And regardless of whether they can push the numbers in, they still need to text the .mobi ext. It still needs branding...

There may be 100's of millions of cell phones, but what percentage access the web from their cell phone? I bet it's less than 10%. I have NEVER used my cell phone to access the web, yet I spend hours each day on my home PC browsing the web.

I know of people in the US who can't even get cell phone service in huge sections of the midwest and western states.. guess they won't be dialing 2267 either.. yet they can access a .com from their PC's.

Like I said, good luck.. my views haven't changed.

Hey, do not be so fast;).

You asked, where are .mobi supporters? They are here, just wait. In fact I was asking to appraise this domain targeting next several months, and not its price right now.
