Photoshop -- How to center text?

Hello NP'ers.

I have an image that I want the text to be perfectly centered on. What is the quickest or easiest way to do this? I normally do it by sight, but I need a more accurate way now.

select the background layer(which is probably the image) and then select the text layer at the same time. (by holding ctrl or shift). then at the top there should be alignment buttons.
