I get this too.
What do you mean by "go down"? Went out of business? If so, then I would have thought either ICANN or the new registrar should have contacted you. If it was a new registration at the new registrar, then you probably don't have a case. How long ago was this? If recent (say last 6 months) then I'd contact SnapNames or ICANN.
It was over a year ago.
The registrar was closed because their CEO passed away, and they shut down operations.
The domain was then transferred to some abomination of a registrar that gave me no way to manage, or access, the domain. I eMailed them and just got the run around from SnapNames and the registrar; they each said the other was the appropriate point of contact.
It wasn't an amazing name, so I just let it go... I don't even remember what one it was; I would have to dig through my eMails. If it were a stellar domain I would have surely fought for it.
Just another example of the 'things' that can happen with registries.
Just checking - can you push a domain to another pheenix account right after catching it, or do you have to wait a certain amount of time?
the time to wait is for a registrar transfer and it is 60 days from the acquire.
if the registrar is the same there are any problem to push the name to another account.
My current testing between Pheenix and Dynadot is that it's a bit of nip 'n tuck between them. Sometimes Pheenix, sometimes Dynadot. I've been testing for about a month. I'd say, of the domains they capture, it's about 60/40 in favor of Pheenix. But it varies day to day. I always order at both nowadays. I'm happy when Dynadot capture the domain because they're slightly cheaper and they are my registrar of choice
Of course, neither can compete with any of the bigger drop-catchers, DropCatch/SnapNames/NameJet and I have no reference to any other drop-catchers. Also, it may be possible to hand-reg a lot of the domains I capture, but I don't really have a problem paying <$20 to be sure to capture a domain I want. It save a whole lot of monitoring drops and hand regging domains. Time is Money.
stub, thanks for the update. Good to hear pheenix is still working at all. I withdrew my prepaid credits and abandoned pheenix over the last couple of months because I wasnt catching anything at all. Im backordering on Dynadot now.
I'm just a little nervous with Pheenix being a new kid and its decline that it might dissappear one day with my domains.
what is the actual backorder price with dynadot?
15.99 for .com
It varies more or less as low as 10.99 for other extensions.
@indiegrind - I usually consolidate my domains to my preferred register after the 60 day wait, whichever drop-catcher I am using.
I can not login Pheenix today. Did you get the same problem?
How long does it take for me to receive Domain Authorization Code from Pheenix for transfer out?
i can log in correctly from my side.
they are fast from my experience, you should receive whithin a couple of hours
Received just now
Pablo calls that fast In my experience it's usually 3-6 hours. So what you got was absolutely normal. So something is working correctly on their site
lol I think that's normal as well. My definition of FAST is within couple of minutes, but as long as they are working normal, my domains are safe :D
What is the current backorder price. Look like they increased. For me it show .COM $21.99 for the Gold package.
you guys paying $18 or $21.99?
$21.99 for Gold. They increased that rate a few months ago.
Or get to the Super Saver level, $13 for drop catches is awesome. Yeah, you won't get the top names, but when I'm on the fence about a name, $13 can often sway me.
What that 1000 point mean for the super saver?
I have recently placed a backorder via them few hours before the drop. The domain was not in the auction or anything. It was both available via namejet, snapnames and pheenix.
Some hours after the drop i see that they caught the domain and it is registered through their affiliated company "Charlemagne 888, LLC". The affiliation is evident at Internic registar list which returns the following:
Charlemagne 888, LLC
2967 Michelson Dr Suite G489
Irvine CA 92612
At the same time the domain does not show in my account as caught. I have opened a support ticket but there is no reply. This really does not look good. What are they trying to do? Does this mean they have hijacked the domain i was trying to get? Is Pheenix a fraud?
Domain Status: inactive
Domain Status: serverTransferProhibited
Domain Status: addPeriod
was any auction involved?
Just paid $29.
No, no auction.
Separate names with a comma.
