Just checked the recent completed listings on Ebay to see what some names had sold for and off memory....

officialbuzz.com had sold for $13,000 dollars
GymnasticsCoach.com had sold for $10,000 dollars
PrimeTimeGrill.com sold for $10,000 dollars

So whats the deal, is that some kind of scam> as I just can't see the value myself :)

sure those were -green- ended auctions?! i agree, i dont see how those names wouldve fetched those prices.... would be curious about number of bidders, if the seller was the same etc...
nice catch btw! makes me sad though, as i really LIKE ebay! but i love domaining even more! sp

might be wrong, but i think if you get a someone to bid and then not pay, i think it still shows up as a sale.
then they say "i got an offer for $xx,xxx but i'm willing to sell it for $x,xxx".

I believe those were more than likely shill bids which never resulted in a final sale. For instance - PrimeTimeGrill.com - is still with the same owner for the past few years (as far back as 2006)....

Righto. :guilty:
Ebay is the domain name wasteland ... lots of shill bidders, pumpers, and scamsters there hyping their goods - and Ebay does very little about it, IMHO.

It's possible they might try to resell and say I'm out of money. Something like:

"I paid 13k for this name with many bidders, but I really need the cash as my wife is sick...I'll sell it for 8k. Think about it...you'll at least make a 5k profit just to relist it on eBay, but I need the money NOW! Here is the link to the eBay auction....blah blah blah"

Just watch out!

Every once in awhile you can find a gem on ebay, like Quit.org or Boso.com which just sold.

But the majority of the time it is some IDN, or something like i-like-food.biz for $250,000 or best offer from a seller with 0 feedback and living in Malaysia :|

I had about a dozen similar "purchases" from my eBay store in the last 2 year period

basically , a buyer (all mine had 0 feedback) BINs a domain and then does not pay ... the sale appears in completed listings (green) and even on the monthly email report from eBay ... of course after the 7 days I apply for a final fee credit (refund of the final fees charged to my account)

if you check the 3 listings mentioned in the OP they are all BINs ... no bidding has occured ... I don't think it is shill bidding or pumping in this case though both can occur on eBay (so watch out)
