self assembly and self reshaping is not new regarding 4d. I remember posting a video on this thread quite a while ago

What they can do is quite impressive but as long as they're still in labs I'm not sure if we'll see them around soon
I always thought it's going to be a few years since they'll become a thing (few years as in >10)

4D Printing was always going to be a lot larger than 3D Printing simply because of being a real problem solver on so many levels compared to dumb 3d prints which u can only use to produce spare parts locally or toys or models/mockups whatever..
