Do you think there is a connection between how many domains are sold per month / year and domain quality?

If you sell domains infrequently or you sell one or two a month is that a reflection of your domain buying choices or does luck play a bigger role in being successful?

What percentage would you say is luck verses good domain purchase choices

50% / 50%
75% / 25%

Quality is important. Luck factor also very high if you want to sell at end user prices.

You can easily sell more domains at cheap prices - I don't think that is called "real domaining".

I agree with NV luck does play a big part but you increase your luck and your chances to sell a domain by focusing on getting quality domains. You will be able to sell them at a profit the only real question is what is the price you are aiming for and if you want to hold till you get it or settle for a lower price, that is what I always find myself dealing with.

If you have a name that someone else wants luck played no part in them seeking you out to buy it.

The more prepared I am the more "luck" I seem to have.

This is a loaded question and it's hard to answer. Luck always play a part, but a small one. A sale cannot be 100% luck, the domain has to be coveted by someone who will buy it.

I think making sales often is not the most important, what is important is getting a good ROI.
Some domainers have few sales but big sales. Example: Rick Schwarz :)

So you can achieve a high turnover by flipping tons of domains at low prices, but you still won't be more successful than other domainers who are making infrequent but large sales.

However, there is a connection between how many domains are sold per month / year and your expectations. If you price them high, you'll make fewer sales. If you price them right, or below value, you'll get more sales.
The true question is what kind of profit do you make.
