Not allowed a domain name...

Evil mum! I'll have to talk to my dad, ive been working on my site for a while now. but my mum wont let me get hosting and a domain name because £68.07 per year is a waste of money apparently... no matter how many times I point out that I could make a profit if I made the site popular and sold ad space.. any advice on changing a parents mind?

£68.07 seems expensive

You can get hosting at places like www.peoplehost.com for less than $50 a year (£27)

And you can easily find .com domain names for under $9 (£5) a year, or .info's for under $3 (£1.60) a year.

As was said above, it should be cheaper to get a domain name, can even get one with NP$ and hosting for NP$ too. There are a lot of places that will even let you have free web space until you get going. Convince your parents that people do make money at this and it's not just an expensive hobby and maybe you can convince them.

i used to pay 10$ for a years worth of hosting and domain 1gb space, 3gb bandwidth.. it done the job for me

get 500 np$, buy a domain registration from someone, find a free hosting (check http://www.freewebspace.net/forums), and u got your site!

If you get a domain, I will host you for free.
Make here understand the sheer amazingness of the internet. Just say, Register.com $200million, Rent.com $400million etc. All of these guys started from scratch. That £67 could easily turn into thousands.... easily.

or Buy a cheap name like Mikor.info for $2 at registerfly and use the free webspace and put ads/links on it


Sell links in your sig and raise some NP$
Buy a name here at NP,with the NP$ and Put ads or sell more links on your website
A lot of people on this board buy links for NP$


Plenty of choices ,use Google/Lycos/Yahoo and do searches for free/cheap
68 pounds a year is Expensive . Some Startup hosting companies don't pay that much for all their Reseller Hosting Packages.

If you spent 12 months on a website, I would be very surprised if it wasn't worth at least $10k.
