'Node' in Drupal

Anyone know how to customize the 'node' on the url of drupal sites? e.g. instead of www.example.com/node/1

to www.example.com/whateveriwant/1

Or a link to the instructions?

What you need is Pathauto: http://drupal.org/project/pathauto

After you configure it, it should work properly
