Domaining isn't my primary business so no issues if sale don't happen for a month or two.

If you do this for a living and you need monthly income, then you normally have to sell a few names at wholesale prices.

That's why it's very important to own liquid names.

Just 1 reason why I advise most newbies to invest in 4L .coms.

Does that include no inquiries and/or offers? I have not had a sale in a while, but I have had several negotiations, many inquiries, and a lot of low-ball offers.

So I constantly try to work on my negotiation skills (keep text files for replies to offers so I can copy/paste them when replying to inquiries/offers from my MarketPlace).

I also work on my marketplace. Was deciding between Efty and ToughDomains. I decided to renew with Efty for another year. But I might switch If there's no new release soon (I keep hearing they are working on several of the features that have been requested).

And I have started to consolidate registrars. I had domain names at 6 different registrars, so as names expire at some registrars, I am transferring them to two of my favorites. My ultimate goal will be only two registrars in the end...

DN

Can i know your portfolio volume

You can basically see it at my MarketPlace (in signature) based on the number of names per category (since they currently only allow a domain name to be in one category only). NOTE: I don't own all of the names -- about 75-100 names belong to a few friends of mine who are just using my market place while they get going in domaining...

That reminds me, I need to categorize my names better because as of now I put most of them into the "Brandable" category (I know I have some names that should go into other categories instead).

So there's another thing I can do to keep me motivated (or at least better organized). Efty recently released a new Bulk Editor - so I'm going to play with that to see if I can move names around into a better category. Oh, and I also need to clean up some names I have listed that I let expire/drop (I let about 30 names expire so far this year -- so I should go in and remove them from my marketplace)

Regards,
DN

The initial anxiety for a sale vanishes after a point..surprisingly i believe in my inventory and will not sell anything cheap (nothing below $2000)
Fortunately, renewals not an issue and i have become more disciplined by not being reg happy:xf.smile: else would have bought 1000 by now.
The real danger would be on the day of my first sale..hope i will be able to digest success and stay disciplined:xf.grin:

Same answer as this, selling domains is just a hobby for me. If i make a sale then great i just stick the money to one side and keep my eyes open for other names i like. If i dont sell anything for a while then atleast i got enough to still cover renewals.

I constantly think of ways to tweak anything I'm doing to make it better. Most of my sales are passive / inbound anyway so while I may not have a sale everyday I certainly am working on new ideas to improve all around. And also a lot of reading and studying the market.
