(ed. 1/1) *Elliptic Curve* is a generative artwork based on the Tor Project’s huge upgrade in security and privacy with the adoption of Elliptic Curve Cryptography. In order to keep the Tor Network secure from cyber attacks, a new public 'Shared Random Value' has been generated every day since 2016. Collectors PleasrDAO believe that privacy allows culture & society to progress — without space for new ideas to grow in safety, the status quo persists. Tor is a project that upholds privacy on the internet, and provides a way for the voices to escape the darkness. Among many things, Tor supports whistleblower solutions like SecureDrop and GlobaLeaks, who are used by journalists to communicate with their sources about important stories and information without sacrificing their anonymity. IX Shells has taken this same project that has offered security and freedom to so many across the globe as the source for *Elliptic Curve*. It is a labor of love produced by an international community of people devoted to human rights. The funds raised from IX Shells' last Tor generative piece, Dreaming at Dusk, were donated directly to the Tor Project to enhance the network and make onions more resilient against anonymity and DoS attacks, and to continue their work with grassroots communities in The Global South. Proceeds from this auction will be directed towards Tor to continue funding the tools of change created by this project. *NOTE: PleasrDAO will donate the proceeds of this sale to The Tor Project.*​

About the artist

Hailing from Panama, Central America, IX Shells is an artist breaking new ground for women within the male-dominated NFT and generative art world. She is the highest-selling female NFT artist, with one of her pieces, Dreaming at Dusk, selling for more than $2 million. She admits to spending most of her life at her computer, first with gaming, then through studying architectural technology and now with art. This has clearly influenced her creations and her ability to unite code, creativity and often music. Her work feels incredibly modern but meaningful, like it’s stamping its authority on this moment in history. IX Shells is a leading figure in the community and co-founder of Creative Code Art, a group led by artists pushing the boundaries of generative art and new media.
