Folks, would like to know some opinions about registering {news story}.com DNs. Such as:
{building collapsed}.com
or
{building collapsedlawsuits}.com
And would it change you opinion of this practice whether people died in the news event or not.
What if it were a human interest story such as {dogpullsownertosafety}.com ?
Here is one argument on the side that registering this type of DN is not necessarily a distasteful thing to do
People will want to look up the news story, and they will. They will go online to look up the story. If you had registered {newstory}.com, is that any different than CBS news running the web story on their DN.com (CBS.com) about what happened? The news.coms, as well as the print news, are always competing to try to get you to go to 'their' news site, and there is always a variety of sites to go to. In this case, folks would be going to 'DN owner's (news) site. Is that any different? And in case anyone doesn't remember, Yes, there is are HUGE banner ads when you go to cbsnews.com for example.
Of course, registering the names of {deadvictim}.com, in my opioion is fully distasteful, though others my have an argument for that side also.
What do you think?
